Job summary

The Maintenance Technician at PTA Plastics reports to the Plant Manager and is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing machinery while maintaining detailed logs of repairs, inventory, and preventative maintenance.

Responsibilities include troubleshooting electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems; basic PLC awareness; operating a forklift; ordering parts; and supporting LEAN initiatives to improve equipment reliability and safety across the plant.

Qualifications

• Mechanical knowledge in maintenance of industrial equipment.
• Forklift operation experience and safety.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Experience in a production/manufacturing setting.
• Capable of working with a team and independently.
• Ability to follow a production report.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and perform preventive maintenance on electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic and mechanical systems.
• Repair and maintain equipment and facilities; general fabrication.
• Respond promptly to emergencies, breakdowns, or other issues.
• Understand and operate basic production PLC controls and startup/shutdown procedures.
• Maintain organized maintenance logs and records of equipment and PM logs.
• Input digital logs and data entry.
• Operate a forklift and yard truck; order parts and track spare parts.
• Follow safety procedures and promote a positive safety culture.
• Collaborate with operators across departments to ensure equipment reliability and safety.
• Support continuous improvement and LEAN initiatives.
• Monitor KPIs such as OEE, quality, and EHS standards.
• Promote positive maintenance and PM culture.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
