Job summary

Amsted Automotive Shelby Twp division is seeking a Maintenance Technician Assistant for the 3rd shift (11pm–7am) with a 15% shift premium. You will assist the Maintenance Technician with machine, building, and general maintenance tasks in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Some college or education in skilled trades preferred.
• 2 years of experience in Plant Maintenance desired.
• Knowledge of stamping presses, conveyors, CNCs, washers, assembly machines and automation.
• Mechanically inclined and want to work on machinery.
• Basic knowledge of Word, Excel.
• Familiarity with IATF16949, ISO 14001, and Q1 criteria.

Responsibilities

• Assist in maintaining equipment powering the manufacturing operation.
• Work with experienced maintenance technicians to troubleshoot and repair machinery.
• Complete preventive maintenance tasks to improve equipment performance.
• Assist with press setups, machine adjustments, and continuous improvement projects.
• Operate forklifts and man lifts after training.
• Follow safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout.
• Document maintenance activities using work orders and systems.
• Support Lean initiatives and help improve efficiency.
• Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to meet plant goals.

Amsted Automotive's TransForm Automotive Shelby Twp division, is is looking for Maintenance Technician Assistants, 3rd shift 11pm - 7am + 15% shift premium, who will be responsible for assisting the Maintenance Technician in machine maintenance, building maintenance and general maintenance functions as directed.

What You’ll Do

• Support Lean Manufacturing initiatives and help identify ways to improve efficiency.
• Work closely with production and maintenance teams to meet plant goals.
• Take on new challenges and develop valuable hands‑on maintenance skills in a manufacturing environment.

What You’ll Need To Succeed

• High school diploma or GED required
• Some college is preferred, or education in the skilled trades, or pursuit of coursework in mechanical, industrial, or electrical Maintenance
• 2 years of experience in Plant Maintenance desired
• Some knowledge of stamping presses, conveyors, CNCs, washers, assembly machines, various automation and related machinery
• Must be mechanically inclined and have a desire to work on machinery and related equipment
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and related programs
• Possess working knowledge of IATF16949, ISO 14001, and Q1 compliance criteria

What You Need To Succeed

• Must be able to work with minimum supervision
• Excellent manual dexterity with the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds frequently
• Work may require extended periods of sitting, standing, lifting, bending, stooping and performing repetitive motion tasks
• Occasionally ascends/descends a ladder to service the lights and ceiling fans
• Work is performed in a manufacturing environment with continuous exposure to noise
• Must be able to work necessary overtime if required
