Maintenance Technician Apprenticeship Program

Apprenticeship Program Details:

This is a unique opportunity for students enrolled in Motlow College’s Mechatronics Program to gain practical experience and hands-on training in the field of maintenance technology.

Program Benefits:

  • Paid Tuition: MI Metals covers the cost of your Mechatronics Program at Motlow College.
  • Earn While You Learn: Work 20 hours per week on-site while dedicating 20 hours to school/study time. You will be paid for a total of 40 hours per week.
  • On-the-Job Training: Receive hands-on training in maintenance and repair techniques under the guidance of experienced technicians.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with troubleshooting and repairing electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems across the plant.
  • Learn to read and interpret equipment manuals and schematics to support maintenance tasks.
  • Participate in preventative maintenance programs and support equipment breakdown repairs.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring adherence to safety standards.
  • Work closely with senior technicians and team members to develop your technical skills.

Qualifications:

  • Enrollment in or acceptance to Motlow College’s Mechatronics Program.
  • Strong interest in pursuing a career in industrial maintenance and repair.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in environments with heat, noise, and chemicals.

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent lifting, climbing, standing, walking, bending, and kneeling.
  • Ability to work near heat and chemicals with appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
