The Inn at Little Washington, a renowned luxury hotel, is seeking a Maintenance Technician to maintain guest rooms, public areas, and service spaces. You will perform routine repairs, inspections, and troubleshooting across electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and carpentry systems to ensure exceptional guest experiences.

This hands-on role requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work with cross-functional teams while minimizing disruption to guests and operations.

Qualifications

• Experience in hotel, commercial building, facilities, apartment, restaurant, or general property maintenance preferred.
• Strong knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and mechanical systems.
• Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems independently.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and repairs across guest rooms, public spaces, kitchens, offices, and support buildings.
• Troubleshoot and repair plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and mechanical issues.
• Repair doors, locks, fixtures, furniture, millwork, and building finishes.
• Conduct minor drywall, painting, caulking, tile, and carpentry repairs.
• Execute preventative maintenance inspections and scheduled tasks.
• Identify issues early to prevent larger failures.
• Respond to maintenance requests promptly in guest areas.
• Collaborate with Front Office, Housekeeping, Culinary and others to restore spaces quickly.
• Document work and findings using HotSOS; escalate safety issues as needed.
• Support mechanical rooms and equipment inspections; assist with kitchen/refrigeration troubleshooting.

Position Summary

The Maintenance Technician is a hands-on member of the Engineering Department responsible for maintaining the buildings, guest accommodations, equipment, and operating spaces that support The Inn at Little Washington. The position performs routine repairs, preventative maintenance, inspections, and troubleshooting throughout the property.

This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, sound judgment, and attention to detail. Maintenance Technicians are expected to take ownership of assigned work, communicate clearly with operating departments, and complete repairs cleanly and correctly while minimizing disruption to guests and operations.

Core Responsibilities

Property Maintenance

• Perform routine maintenance and repairs throughout guest rooms, public spaces, kitchens, offices, and support buildings.
• Troubleshoot and repair basic plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and mechanical issues.
• Repair doors, locks, hardware, fixtures, furniture, millwork, and building finishes.
• Perform minor drywall, painting, caulking, tile, and general carpentry repairs.
• Complete preventative maintenance inspections and scheduled maintenance tasks.
• Identify developing equipment or building issues before they become larger failures.

Guest & Operational Response

• Respond promptly to guest room and operational maintenance requests.
• Work professionally in occupied and guest-facing areas while minimizing disruption.
• Partner with Front Office, Housekeeping, Culinary, and other departments to return spaces and equipment to service quickly.
• Document completed work, findings, and follow-up needs using HotSOS.
• Escalate major, time-consuming, or safety-related issues to Engineering leadership.

Engineering Operations

• Perform routine mechanical room and equipment inspections.
• Assist with basic commercial kitchen and refrigeration equipment troubleshooting when appropriate.
• Assist with water treatment, pools, spas, and seasonal operations.
• Support outside contractors and vendors with access, troubleshooting, and repairs as required.
• Assist with special events, property projects, seasonal setups, and other Engineering Department needs.
• Maintain clean, organized mechanical rooms, shops, tools, and work areas.
• Follow established safety procedures and immediately report unsafe conditions or significant equipment deficiencies.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in hotel, commercial building, facilities, apartment, restaurant, or general property maintenance preferred.
• Working knowledge of basic electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and mechanical systems.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving ability.
• Comfortable working with hand tools, power tools, ladders, and maintenance equipment.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple maintenance requests.
• Professional appearance and conduct in guest-facing environments.
• Strong attention to detail and quality of workmanship.
• Reliable attendance and ability to work as part of a small Engineering team.
• Willingness to learn unfamiliar equipment and building systems.
• Valid driver's license preferred.

Physical Requirements

This is an active, hands-on position. Candidates must be able to regularly walk throughout the property, climb stairs and ladders, work from elevated positions, bend and kneel, work in mechanical spaces, and safely lift and carry tools, equipment, and materials.

Schedule

This position requires flexibility based on hotel operations. Availability for weekends, holidays, evenings, and occasional emergency situations may be required.
