Job summary

Gorman & Company in Rockford, IL is seeking a full-time Maintenance Technician to keep our Orton Keyes community safe and well-maintained. You will perform plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and appliance repairs, conduct daily property walks, and respond to maintenance requests.

A valid driver's license and at least two years of related experience are required, with EPA HVAC Type II preferred. We offer competitive hourly pay, health insurance, a 401(k) with company match, paid time off, holidays,

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years of maintenance experience in property management or related trades.
• Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, basic HVAC, and appliance repair.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Ability to participate in on-call emergency rotation.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• HVAC-EPA Type II or EPA Universal preferred.

Responsibilities

• Complete daily maintenance and repairs for plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and appliances.
• Maintain exterior of the property and seasonal prep (fall cleanup, snow removal).
• Perform daily property walks to keep areas clean, safe, and presentable.
• Respond promptly to routine and emergency maintenance requests.
• Prepare vacant apartments for new residents using make-ready checklists.
• Inspect buildings and grounds to maintain safety and curb appeal.
• Maintain common areas, exterior spaces, and grounds.
• Communicate with vendors and contractors.
