Job Description

TekPro is looking for a Maintenance Technician to work at a newer, modernized food manufacturing plant. Industrial maintenance technicians install, test, troubleshoot, and repair or replace mechanical/electrical production equipment parts and other electrical components. This individual will have the ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and specifications to provide troubleshooting and electrical repair services. The electrical technician must understand and make proper repair decisions based on these documents.

This position requires extensive knowledge of electrical safety codes and regulations. The electrical technician must possess the skills to communicate professionally, have technical knowledge of how industrial electrical control and operational systems function, and be mechanically proficient.

The Industrial Maintenance Technician must be motivated to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct machine setup, inspection, preventive maintenance, and work order service.
  • Proficiently diagnose, repair, replace, and overhaul all mechanical components for various equipment, including production equipment (blenders, grinders, pumps, fillers, sealers, cappers, conveyors), packaging equipment (metal detectors, printers, case packers, case tapers), electrically operated equipment, variable speed controllers, hydraulic equipment, air compressors, air handlers, HVAC, and related software programs.
  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs during production and perform scheduled maintenance during machine service.
  • Possess electrical, mechanical, and troubleshooting skills, including mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical operation, process and control systems, and both building and machine electrical panels.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals, electrical schematics, blueprints, and perform related computer tasks.
  • Complete and submit daily documentation related to job tasks, downtime, spare parts, preventive maintenance, and work orders.
  • Perform troubleshooting, repair, and installation of low and high voltage industrial electromechanical and control systems.
  • Assist with project and system startups, including wiring, calibration, grounding, and power testing.
  • Adhere to work rules, GMPs, safety procedures, and OSHA regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education, Work Experience & Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years of related experience with packing and production machines, specifically in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact tactfully and courteously with coworkers and vendors.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, problem solve, maintain, and repair complex mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
  • Flexibility to work weekends and other shifts as needed.
  • Ability to work independently, be self-motivated, and collaborate as part of a team.
  • Physical ability to perform heavy lifting up to 50 lbs., carry tools and supplies, kneel, stoop, and stand for long periods.
