Job summary

MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN- 3rd Shift 10:45pm-7am

Job Description:

Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment.

Responsibility and Duties:

  • Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.
  • Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts and examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.
  • Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.
  • Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments.
  • Repairs or replaces defective parts and lubricates and cleans parts as needed in accordance with food/beverage manufacturing quality system practices.
  • Installs special functional and structural parts in devices and starts devices to test their performance.
  • Strives to continuously build knowledge and skills and shares expertise with others.
  • Exhibits sound and accurate judgment and includes appropriate people in decision-making process.
  • Works with Maintenance Manager to prioritize and plan work activities and completes work in timely manner
  • Initiates purchase order for parts and machines.
  • Works within approved budget and conserves organizational resources.
  • Follows policies and procedures and observes safety and security procedures.
  • Uses equipment and materials properly and reports potentially unsafe conditions.
  • Maintains inventory records and performs cycle counts as necessary.
  • Mechanic must have own basic set of tools, to include, but not be limited to the following items: Wrenches & sockets, adjustable wrenches, pliers, nut drivers, screwdrivers and hammer.

Education and/or Experience:
One year certificate from college or technical school; or two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and smell. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, however the employee may be required to enter production areas where the noise level is usually loud and hearing protection is required.
