Job summary

Peterson-Farms, Inc. in Deland, FL is seeking a Maintenance Technician for the 3rd shift (10:45pm–7:00am).

You will repair and maintain machinery and production equipment, including engines, motors, conveyors, and related systems, ensuring continuous operation. Responsibilities include inspecting equipment, replacing parts, lubricating, testing performance, and coordinating with the Maintenance Manager on priorities.

Qualifications

• Requires ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
• Experience with maintenance in food/beverage manufacturing quality systems is preferred.
• Must have own basic set of tools and be able to operate in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Observes mechanical devices in operation and identifies trouble.
• Dismantles devices to access and replace defective parts.
• Inspects parts for dimensional changes and wear.
• Adjusts functional parts and control instruments.
• Repairs or replaces defective parts and lubricates as needed for production.
• Installs parts and tests device performance.
• Prioritizes work with Maintenance Manager and stays on schedule.
• Initiates purchase orders for parts and machines.

Job Description:

Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment.

Responsibility and Duties:

• Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.
• Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts and examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.
• Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.
• Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments.
• Repairs or replaces defective parts and lubricates and cleans parts as needed in accordance with food/beverage manufacturing quality system practices.
• Installs special functional and structural parts in devices and starts devices to test their performance.
• Strives to continuously build knowledge and skills and shares expertise with others.
• Exhibits sound and accurate judgment and includes appropriate people in decision‑making process.
• Works with Maintenance Manager to prioritize and plan work activities and completes work in timely manner
• Initiates purchase order for parts and machines.
• Works within approved budget and conserves organizational resources.
• Follows policies and procedures and observes safety and security procedures.
• Uses equipment and materials properly and reports potentially unsafe conditions.
• Maintains inventory records and performs cycle counts as necessary.
• Mechanic must have own basic set of tools, to include, but not be limited to the following items: Wrenches & sockets, adjustable wrenches, pliers, nut drivers, screwdrivers and hammer.

Education and/or Experience:
One year certificate from college or technical school; or two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
