Maintenance Tech III
Pay Range: $36.00 to $46.20 per hour plus $1.00 Shift Differential
3rd Shift: 11:30pm to 7:30am Mon - Fri
Position Summary
The Extrusion Maintenance Technician Level II is responsible for performing intermediate-level maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of extrusion equipment and supporting systems. This role ensures optimal equipment performance, minimizes downtime, and supports production goals through proactive and corrective maintenance activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on extrusion lines and auxiliary equipment.
- Perform mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic system maintenance; troubleshoot and repair failures; replace and align components as needed.
- Assist with die changes, calibrations, and setup support.
- Identify root causes of equipment failures and recurring issues.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings; perform basic PLC diagnostics including input/output checks.
- Participate in root cause analysis and reliability improvement initiatives; recommend improvements to increase uptime and efficiency.
- Support 5S and TPM initiatives.
- Follow safety procedures including LOTO; ensure repairs meet OSHA and company standards.
- Document maintenance work and downtime in CMMS; communicate shift status to team members.
- Work with production, supervisors, and engineering; provide support during startups and shutdowns; train Level I technicians on basic maintenance tasks.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; technical certification preferred.
- 3-5 years of industrial maintenance experience, preferably in extrusion.
- Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
- Basic PLC troubleshooting experience.
- Ability to use diagnostic and precision tools.
- Extrusion equipment experience with screws, dies, downstream equipment, heating/cooling systems, and tooling maintenance.
- Strong problem‑solving, independent work, communication, teamwork, attention to detail, and time management skills.
- Physical: lift up to 50 lbs; stand, walk, bend, climb; work in heat, noise, and industrial conditions.
- Work environment: manufacturing plant; may require overtime and shift work.
- Level II Differentiation: independently troubleshoot most issues; handle moderately complex repairs without supervision; mentor junior technicians; participate in improvement initiatives.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
