Job summary

Smith+Nebhew in Fort Worth, TX is seeking an experienced maintenance professional to uphold and improve facility and manufacturing systems supporting life-changing medical technologies.

You will lead maintenance planning, perform preventive and corrective tasks, and mentor operators while ensuring GMP documentation and regulatory compliance are met.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; trade school or vocational training preferred.
  • Journeyman License and/or specialized technical training strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in a regulated manufacturing environment, preferably pharmaceutical or biotechnology, or a minimum of 3 years in a Maintenance Mechanic 3 role.

Responsibilities

  • Support and maintain critical facility systems including HVAC, compressed air, steam, purified water, and clean steam systems.
  • Perform troubleshooting, corrective maintenance, and preventive maintenance on manufacturing equipment including autoclaves, mixing vessels, fillers, packaging equipment, lyophilizers, and centrifuges.
  • Diagnose equipment failures through data analysis and advanced troubleshooting techniques using P&IDs, schematics, PLCs, manuals, and technical documentation.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute maintenance activities with production teams to maximize equipment availability and minimize downtime.
  • Lead small scale reliability, efficiency, and process improvement projects within a GMP regulated environment.
  • Create, update, and implement maintenance procedures and preventive maintenance documentation.
  • Complete maintenance records and repair logs in accordance with Good Documentation Practices and GMP requirements.
  • Support manufacturing investigations, nonconformance activities, and technical document preparation.
  • Provide technical guidance to manufacturing teams and help develop the skills of operators and fellow technicians.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to ensure safe, compliant, and effective execution of maintenance activities.

What will you need to be successful?
  • High school diploma required; trade school or vocational training preferred

  • Advanced knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and industrial maintenance systems
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills with the ability to analyze complex equipment failures
  • Experience interpreting equipment manuals, engineering drawings, and P&IDs in English
  • Knowledge of GMP requirements, quality systems, and maintenance documentation practices
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and project planning tools
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Availability to support off shift, on call, and emergency maintenance requirements as needed
