Job summary

Schwan's in Buckeye, Ohio is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician for 2nd and 3rd shifts. You will perform preventive maintenance on conveyor systems and production machinery to minimize downtime and ensure safe, reliable operation.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED, 3+ years of related experience, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. SAP is used for work orders; the role offers strong benefits and advancement opportunities in a busy food manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on conveyor systems and food production machinery to minimize downtime.
• Perform complex mechanical repairs including shaft keying, sprocket broaching, gear head replacement, stainless welding, hydraulic hose fabrication, and belt maintenance.
• Assist with equipment setup, teardown, welding, fabrication and installation of plant machinery to support production needs.
• Diagnose mechanical issues through observation and measurement, identifying root causes and implementing solutions.
• Use SAP to document maintenance activities, track work orders, and coordinate with production and operations teams.

Job description

Starting Pay: $25.00 to $42.00/hour

2nd Shift 1:30pm - 10:00pm

3rd Shift 9:45pm - 6:15am

+1.50 shift differential from 2:30 pm -- 4:00 am

What You Will Do:

• Conduct advanced preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on conveyor systems and food production machinery to ensure reliable operation and minimize downtime.
• Perform complex mechanical repairs including shaft keying, sprocket broaching, gear head replacement, stainless steel welding, hydraulic hose fabrication, and belt maintenance using specialized tools and equipment.
• Assist with equipment setup, teardown, welding, fabrication, and installation of new or modified plant machinery to support production needs.
• Diagnose mechanical issues through observation, auditory assessment, and use of precision measuring instruments, and effectively identifying and resolving root causes.
• Utilize SAP software to document maintenance activities, track work orders, and communicate effectively with production and operations teams to optimize workflow.

What You Will Bring:

• High school diploma or GED; two-year degree in specialized maintenance trade preferred.
• 3+ years of related experience.
• Work different ranges of hours such as full-time, overtime, or weekend shifts.
• Basic to advanced mechanical knowledge, electrical and building skills.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
