Job summary

CJ Schwan's is seeking a maintenance technician to perform preventive maintenance and troubleshoot conveyor systems in a food manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance and troubleshoot conveyor systems and production equipment.
• Carry out complex mechanical repairs, machining, welding, and hydraulic hose fabrication.
• Assist with equipment setup, teardown, and installation of plant machinery.
• Diagnose issues by observation and precision measurements to identify root causes.
• Document maintenance activities in SAP and coordinate with operations to optimize workflow.

Starting Pay: $28 - $31.50 per hour

Hours: Thursday Morning: 12:30 am - 6:30 am, Thursday night, Friday, Saturday- 6:30 pm - 6:30 am

What You Will Do

• Conduct advanced preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on conveyor systems and food production machinery to ensure reliable operation and minimize downtime.
• Perform complex mechanical repairs including shaft keying, sprocket broaching, gear head replacement, stainless steel welding, hydraulic hose fabrication, and belt maintenance using specialized tools and equipment.
• Assist with equipment setup, teardown, welding, fabrication, and installation of new or modified plant machinery to support production needs.
• Diagnose mechanical issues through observation, auditory assessment, and use of precision measuring instruments, and effectively identifying and resolving root causes.
• Utilize SAP software to document maintenance activities, track work orders, and communicate effectively with production and operations teams to optimize workflow.

What You Will Bring

• High school diploma or GED; two-year degree in specialized maintenance trade preferred.
• 3+ years of related experience.
• Work different ranges of hours such as full-time, overtime, or weekend shifts.
• Basic to advanced mechanical knowledge, electrical and building skills.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
