Job summary

Borden Dairy in Lafayette, LA is seeking a safety-conscious and quality-focused Maintenance Technician 2 to install, maintain, and repair production equipment, and perform preventative maintenance.

You will inspect equipment, troubleshoot issues, and support continuous improvement while following OSHA and company safety policies; overtime and shift flexibility required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • One-year college/technical certificate or three years of related maintenance experience.
  • Moderate PLC systems knowledge.
  • English reading/writing and basic math; data recording ability.
  • Bilingual skills beneficial.
  • Willing to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and various shifts.
  • Ability to work independently and in teams in fast-paced environments.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform complete preventative maintenance inspections and services on all production and manufacturing equipment.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and maintain equipment to meet performance standards.
  • Apply a continuous improvement mindset to identify and support process improvements.
  • Comply with all safety policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Use PPE in accordance with OSHA regulations.
  • Possess and maintain personal tools required to perform duties.

POSITION SUMMARY

Borden Dairy is seeking asafety-conscious and quality-focused professionalto join our team as aMaintenance Technician 2. In this dynamic role, you will install, maintain, and repair production and manufacturing equipment. You will also inspect equipment for proper functioning and perform preventative maintenance duties in accordance with manufacturer specifications.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Performcomplete preventative maintenanceinspections and services on all production and manufacturing equipment.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and maintain equipment to meet company performance standards.
  • Apply acontinuous improvement mindsetto identify and support process improvements.
  • Comply with allcompany safety policiesandregulatory compliancerequirements.
  • Use allpersonal protective equipment (PPE)in accordance with OSHA regulations.
  • Possess and maintainpersonal toolsnecessary to perform job duties.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • One-year certificate from a college or technical school, or three years of related experience and/or training in equipment maintenance and repair; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Moderate knowledge of and/or experience withPLC systems.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English; capable of performing basic mathematical calculations and accurately recording data.
  • Bilingual skillsare beneficial.
  • Ability and willingness to workovertime, weekends, holidays, andvarious shiftsas required.
  • Demonstrated ability to workindependently and collaborativelyin fast-paced, dynamic environments.
  • Stronganalytical and troubleshooting skillsrequired.
  • Ability and willingness to workovertime, weekends, holidays, andvarious shiftsas required.
Experience and/or certification in the following areas is preferred but not required. Job level and compensation will be commensurate with experience and certifications.
  • Basic electrical systems (e.g., starters, fuses, contacts, relays).
  • Conveyors (air cylinders, diverters, sensors, motor/speed controls).
  • Gearing and gear boxes (rebuilds, ordering parts, machining parts).
  • Hydraulic systems (high pressure cylinders, pumps, valves, troubleshooting).
  • Preventative maintenance (computerized preventative charts/data).
  • Pumps (e.g., troubleshooting, replacing seals/motors, understanding specs).
  • Review rating instructions.
  • PLC, HVAC, Ammonia, Refrigeration, or other specialty certifications preferred but not required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Must be able tofrequently stand, walk, kneel, reach, climb, pull, and bendwith full range of motion.
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 10 lbs, with typical lifting requirements up to 50 lbs; occasionally required to lift and/or ... 100 lbs.
  • Must be able to work in hot and cold climates, both indoors and outdoors.
