Position Summary

The position of Maintenance Technician is a hands-on role, providing technical expertise in maintenance, repair, and preventive maintenance of facility equipment to reduce downtime and increase operational efficiency in a validated, cGMP environment. This includes machinery, buildings, computer systems, control systems, safety, and security systems. Responsibilities also include maintaining shop tools, inventory, and updating the department’s CMMS, all while adhering to Lean and 5S principles. The role may require supporting after-hours emergency response activities and assisting with parts inventory systems. Depending on the modality (e.g., Gamma), physical strength and endurance are necessary.

Work Schedule

This is a 1st shift position, working hours from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm on a rotating schedule. Training will be during the dayshift.

Responsibilities
  1. Perform technical troubleshooting across various modalities and locations, conduct scheduled preventative maintenance, and recommend improvements.
  2. Optimize processing by performing predictive and preventative maintenance, installing new equipment, maintaining electrical systems, and general maintenance tasks.
  3. Maintain a safe, secure, and clean workplace through inspections, proper documentation, and compliance with safety procedures and environmental standards.
  4. Contribute to production efficiency by timely shift work, responding to off-shift maintenance calls, managing spare parts, and making repair or deferment decisions.
  5. Maintain building climate systems, including HVAC, and strive for continuous operational improvements.
  6. Update and enhance mechanical and technical skills through ongoing training, workshops, and certifications.
  7. Support team efforts by following policies, GMP, Lean principles, and performing additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in maintenance systems, mechanical processes, or related fields.
  • Proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking).
  • Ability to work independently under general guidance.
  • Computer literacy including MS Office, CMMS, and virtual platforms.
  • Effective interpersonal skills.
  • Basic math skills, including ratios and algebra.
  • Optional PLC/control experience.
  • Knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, mechanics, or electrical applications.
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics.
  • Sufficient hearing to detect alarms and signals.
Preferred Skills
  • Support for Lean practices and principles.
Additional Requirements
  • Physical capability to meet job demands, including physical evaluations.
  • Completion of operator training and certification, with annual recertification.
  • For certain modalities, passing NRC background checks may be required.
