Job summary

Green Bay Packaging is seeking a Maintenance Technician to support the safe and efficient operation of manufacturing equipment at our Aurora, Illinois facility. You will troubleshoot, repair, maintain, and install mechanical and electrical equipment while supporting preventative maintenance initiatives to maximize reliability and minimize downtime.

The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Industrial maintenance experience in manufacturing or similar technical program completion is required.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance on manufacturing equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
  • Install, maintain, and modify production equipment and facility systems.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Troubleshoot motors, drives, sensors, control systems, and PLC-controlled equipment.
  • Install electrical equipment including conduit, cable trays, wiring, motors, and drives.
  • Support equipment upgrades, process improvements, and capital projects.
  • Identify root causes of equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
  • Complete maintenance work orders and documentation accurately.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Follow all safety, quality, environmental, and company policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with production teams to minimize downtime and support operational goals.
  • Perform general building and facility maintenance as required.

Position Overview

  • Working knowledge of motors, drives, hydraulics, pneumatics, and instrumentation.
  • Welding and fabrication experience.
  • Experience in a converting, packaging, printing, paper, or manufacturing environment.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and work in an industrial environment for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work safely around moving machinery and equipment.
  • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces when necessary.
