Job summary

Linamar Corporation is seeking an Industrial Maintenance Technician 1 in the United States to perform routine and preventive maintenance on mechanical equipment, utility systems, and facility building components. This is a starting level role that works with other technicians and journeymen to keep production machinery running smoothly.

Key duties include troubleshooting, repairing components, maintaining CNC machinery, reading blueprints, and recording maintenance activities.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two to four years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • One to two years of experience in a CNC manufacturing environment is strongly preferred.
  • Certification in PLC Controls strongly preferred.
  • Basic knowledge on machining and assembly process.
  • Basic knowledge of PLCs.
  • Basic PC skills (MS Word, MS Excel).
  • Ability to read blueprints and electrical schematics.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and troubleshoot machinery, including CNC turning and automation systems.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on engines, conveyors, and production machines.
  • Repair or replace worn components following manuals and specs.
  • Maintain safe and clean working environment and comply with 5S principles.
  • Record daily, weekly, and monthly PMs and maintenance activities in Plex.
  • Respond to emergency maintenance requests as required.

Job Title : Industrial Maintenance Technician 1

Job Summary:

T his is a starting level machine maintenance role that works alongside other maintenance technicians at various levels including journeymen. Performs routine and extensive preventative maintenance and repair procedures on mechanical equipment, utility systems, and facility building repairs.

Responsibility:

Ensures operation of machinery, mechanical gear boxes, equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, spindle, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.

Must perform machine recovery procedures according to machine operations manuals and/or instructions.

Maintains facilities CNC machinery (CNC turning, dials, and automation systems) to proper working condition.

Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.

Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts.

Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using scales, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.

Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance.

Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.

Performs minor and major repair of all buildings and equipment, as needed.

Performs preventive maintenance procedures on mechanical equipment, pneumatic equipment, and building on a scheduled basis; inspects belts, checks fluid levels, replaces filters, greases bearings, seals, etc.; repairs or replaces broken parts.

Completes daily, weekly and monthly PM’s on maintenance procedures and maintains records of scheduled maintenance procedures in Plex.

May operate a computer which controls and monitors mechanical equipment and utility systems.

Responds to emergency maintenance requests as required .

Academic/Educational Requirements :

High school diploma or equivalent

Two to four years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment.

One to two years of experience in a CNC manufacturing environment is strongly preferred.

Required Skills/Experiences:

Certification in PLC Controls strongly preferred.

Basic knowledge on machining and assembly process.

Basic knowledge of PLC’s .

Basic PC Skills (MS Word, MS Excel)

Ability to effectively communicate with others.

Must be able to read blueprints and electrical schematics.

Demonstrated mechanical and mathematical aptitude.

Ability to work independently and efficiently with little to no assistance .

Possess advanced knowledge of hydraulic and electrical concepts.

Ability to identify root cause and solve problem .

Contribute to continuous improvement.

Self-motivated and ability to work with minimal supervision

Demonstrated good housekeeping practices and 5S principles.

Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.

Demonstrated commitment to safe working behaviors including lockout, fall protection, confined space, and mobile equipment operation.
