Job summary

Scotts Miracle-Gro is seeking a Maintenance Technician to join our team in Waverly, VA. The role involves troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining production equipment across mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic systems.

Expect to work on conveyors, packaging lines, and related machinery with a focus on safety and efficiency. You will need prior maintenance experience, familiarity with forklifts/heavy equipment, and the ability to read numbers, maintain records, and perform basic

• Maintenance experience required.
• Forklift/heavy equipment experience preferred.
• Manufacturing experience preferred.
• Ability to perform repetitive motions and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to read numbers and maintain written records.
• Ability to operate controls and perform basic math functions.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair equipment including mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, electronic, and pneumatic systems.
• Repair production line equipment such as conveyor belts, packaging, grinding, and stacking equipment.
• Assist in installation of machinery and equipment as needed.
• Cut and weld, including light steel fabrication.
• Inspect and adjust equipment as part of preventive maintenance.
• Diagnose malfunctions in machinery and equipment and take corrective actions.
• Perform maintenance duties and other responsibilities as assigned.

The hourly rate pay for this position at Scotts will generally fall between $33.65 - $43.60 per hour and is paid weekly. Scotts will consider various factors in determining the actual pay including your skills, qualifications, experience, and geographical location.

We are looking for a Maintenance Technician who will join our ScottsMiracle-Gro team in Waverly, VA

What you'll do in this role:

• Troubleshoot and perform repairs and maintenance on parts of equipment including machines including mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, electronic, and pneumatic repairs.
• Repair production line equipment including conveyor belts, packaging equipment, grinding equipment and stacking equipment.
• May perform or assist in the installation of machinery and equipment.
• Cut and welding, including light steel fabrication.
• Inspects and adjusts equipment.
• Assist in diagnosing malfunctions in machinery and equipment.
• Performs maintenance duties or other duties as assigned.

What you'll need to be successful:

• Prior relevant maintenance experience.
• Prefer experience in working on forklifts and heavy equipment as it is this positions main job duties.
• Manufacturing experience preferred.
• Ability for prolonged and repetitive motions of standing, twisting, stooping, kneeling, squatting, bending, climbing, reaching overhead and arms/hands dexterity.
• Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
• Teachable attitude and ability to learn on the job in a fast paced environment.
• Ability to read numbers, product descriptions, and maintain written records.
• Ability to push button, monitor controls, and perform basic math functions.
