Maintenance Technician
Full Time Walker, Walker, LA, US
Summary:
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic equipment used in the fabrication facility. This role ensures all production machinery, tools, and building systems are operating efficiently to minimize downtime and support a safe, productive work environment.
Requirements:
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance on fabrication machinery, welding equipment, cranes, compressors, and other shop systems.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues on various machines and facility equipment.
- Maintain accurate maintenance and repair logs; document parts used, and work completed.
- Assist in the installation and set up of new equipment and machinery.
- Conduct regular facility inspections to identify potential issues and safety hazards.
- Collaborate with production personnel to schedule repairs and minimize disruption to operations.
- Maintain an organized and safe work area, ensuring compliance with company safety standards and OSHA regulations.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by suggesting and implementing equipment or process enhancements.
- Perform building and grounds maintenance as needed, including lighting, plumbing, and minor structural repairs.
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and emergency maintenance requests.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training in industrial maintenance preferred.
- 3+ years of maintenance experience in an industrial, manufacturing, or fabrication environment.
- Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Experience with welding and fabrication machinery is preferred.
- Proficient in troubleshooting and repairing industrial equipment.
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Basic computer skills for maintenance tracking and reporting.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to climb stairs, ladders and scaffolding.
- Ability to walk on even and uneven surfaces.
- Ability to enter confined spaces.
- Ability to walk up to one mile on industrial and construction sites outdoors at any time of the year.
- Ability to use multi-level stair towers and rung ladders unassisted.
- Ability to stand, use hands and fingers, grip, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and talk and hear.
- Ability to see with visual acuity and distinguish between colors.
- Ability to lift and carry 15 lbs. on a regular basis is required and at times lifting up to 25 lbs. may be required.
