Job summary

Consultants At Greystone Inc. is seeking a hands-on Maintenance Technician for our Toano, VA facility. This full-time position covers mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and automation maintenance to keep production running safely and efficiently.

You will troubleshoot problems, repair equipment, and work with operators, vendors, and contractors, with a strong emphasis on reliability and uptime. Prior hands-on experience and the ability to read technical docs are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with industrial maintenance experience.
• Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to safely read technical documentation and schematics.
• Hands-on maintenance experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps, and PLCs.
• Valuing practical, hands-on experience over formal degrees.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, troubleshoot, maintain, repair, and install industrial production machinery and plant equipment.
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical problems and coordinate with operators and vendors to resolve issues.
• Maintain hydraulic and pneumatic systems including pumps, valves, and regulators.
• Install and troubleshoot electrical/electronic components and automated machinery.
• Perform mechanical repairs on motors, pumps, bearings, belts, chains, gearboxes, and power transmission equipment.
• Utilize tools and technical docs to diagnose and repair equipment.
• Suggest reliability, safety, and uptime improvements.
• Keep repair records, maintain clean work areas, and follow lockout/tagout and safety rules.

Maintenance Technician

Full-Time | [Toano, VA]

About the Position

We are looking for a hands-on Maintenance Technician to help keep our manufacturing operation running safely, reliably, and efficiently.

This is a multi-craft industrial maintenance position involving mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, plumbing, automation, and general equipment repairs. If you enjoy troubleshooting a problem, making the repair, and getting equipment back into production, we want to hear from you.

What You’ll Do

• Inspect, troubleshoot, maintain, repair, rebuild, and install industrial production machinery and plant equipment.

• Diagnose mechanical and electrical problems and work with operators, maintenance personnel, vendors, and contractors to resolve difficult issues.

• Maintain hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including pumps, valves, gauges, regulators, cylinders, piping, and related components.

• Install and troubleshoot electrical/electronic components and automated machinery and equipment.

• Perform mechanical repairs involving motors, pumps, bearings, belts, chains, gearboxes, and other power-transmission equipment.

• Use tools, test equipment, manuals, drawings, and technical documentation to diagnose and repair equipment.

• Recommend improvements that increase reliability, safety, and production uptime.

• Maintain accurate repair information, a clean work area, and compliance with LOTO and all safety requirements.

What We’re Looking For

• High school diploma or equivalent and previous industrial, mechanical, electrical, or related maintenance experience.

• Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.

• Ability to safely use maintenance tools and test equipment and read technical documentation.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a maintenance team.

• Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps, PLC-controlled equipment, welding/fabrication, plumbing/piping, or preventive maintenance is a plus.

• Practical hands-on experience is valued more than a specific degree or school.

Schedule & Availability

• Work overtime as needed.

• Participate in a scheduled on‑call rotation.

• Respond to emergency maintenance calls when needed.

• Work occasional weekends, holidays, or other non-standard hours when required.

• On‑call and emergency response requirements are shared through a scheduled maintenance rotation.

Compensation & Benefits

• $21-$32+ per hour based on experience and skill level.
