Job summary

Channel Islands YMCA in Ventura, CA is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform eligible upkeep tasks, including painting, plumbing, carpentry, and daily cleaning, ensuring member safety and facility readiness. The role requires completing work orders, managing supplies, and supporting events.

You will assist with pool and exterior maintenance, read labels and SDS information, and uphold cleanliness and safety standards while participating in required trainings.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Previous related work experience preferred.
• Complete required certifications within 60 days of hire.
• Complete all required Branch and Position trainings within two weeks of hire.
• Ability to obtain a criminal record clearance.
• Valid California driver's license and driving record per Channel Islands YMCA policy.

Responsibilities

• Completion of assigned maintenance projects (i.e. painting, plumbing, carpentry)
• Performs daily, weekly, and monthly preventative maintenance
• Cleaning duties: mopping, dusting, vacuuming, washing, trash removal, sanitizing
• Replaces and maintains consumable supplies (soap, paper towels, toilet paper)
• Oversee cleaning checklists and logs
• Set up and clean after events
• Assist in opening and closing the facility
• Read labels, SDS, and instructions for equipment and chemicals
• Assist with pool maintenance as trained
• Exterior maintenance (trees, lighting, pressure washing)
• Complete work orders timely
• Provide vendor assessment and support as needed
• Deliver exceptional customer service and engage members
• Participate in in-service trainings

What does a Maintenance Technician do?

• Setting up and cleaning up after special program events
• Assists in closing and opening of the facility
• Must have the ability to use equipment and chemicals in prescribed manner, including ability to read labels, SDS information sheets, and instructions
• Assists with pool maintenance in accordance with training
• Responsible for exterior maintenance (i.e. trim trees, lighting, pressure washing)
• Complete assigned work orders in timely manner
• Provide vendors assess and support as needed
• Provides exceptional customer service and fosters connections with members
• Participating and satisfactory completion of in-service trainings
