Scope of Position

The Hotel Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing routine and preventative maintenance tasks to ensure the smooth operation and functionality of the hotel's facilities and equipment. This role involves addressing guest service requests, conducting repairs, and ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for guests and staff.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • General Maintenance
    • Perform routine inspections and maintenance of hotel facilities, including guest rooms, public areas, and back‑of‑house spaces.
    • Conduct minor repairs and maintenance tasks such as plumbing, electrical, HVAC, painting, carpentry, and general upkeep.
    • Respond promptly to maintenance requests from guests and staff, ensuring timely resolution.
  • Preventative Maintenance
    • Implement and adhere to a preventative maintenance schedule for all hotel equipment and systems.
    • Identify potential issues and perform proactive maintenance to prevent breakdowns and extend the lifespan of equipment.
  • Safety and Compliance
    • Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations, including proper handling and storage of tools and materials.
    • Conduct regular safety inspections and address any hazards or potential safety issues.
    • Maintain knowledge of and adhere to health and safety guidelines.
  • Equipment Operation
    • Operate and maintain various types of maintenance equipment and tools.
    • Ensure all equipment is in good working condition and report any malfunctions or necessary repairs.
  • Record Keeping
    • Maintain accurate records of maintenance tasks, repairs, and inspections.
    • Document and report any major repairs or replacements needed to the Maintenance Manager.
  • Guest Interaction
    • Interact with guests in a courteous and professional manner, addressing their maintenance‑related concerns and requests.
    • Ensure minimal disruption to guests while performing maintenance tasks in occupied areas.
  • Team Collaboration
    • Work closely with the housekeeping and front desk teams to coordinate maintenance activities and ensure seamless operations.
    • Assist other departments with maintenance‑related tasks as needed.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training in maintenance or a related field preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in general maintenance or a related field, preferably within the hospitality industry.
  • Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and general maintenance techniques.
    • Excellent troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
    • Ability to operate and maintain various types of maintenance equipment and tools.
