Oetiker in Town of Lancaster, NY, is hiring a Maintenance Technician to keep production equipment running and reduce downtime. This role focuses on maintaining and repairing machines, ensuring a safe working environment, and adhering to preventive maintenance schedules.

The candidate will work on mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, diagnose issues, and perform sensor replacements and tool changes. 1st shift hours apply, with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of machine operation of pneumatics, ladder logic, basic electrical systems, and PLC equipment.
• Welding and machinery experience is a plus.
• Forklift and scissor lift certifications required.

Responsibilities

• Repairs mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems on production machines.
• Troubleshoots and diagnoses problems or failures of automated equipment and initiates repair.
• Adjusts and replaces electrical sensors for proper operation of assembly machines.
• Performs preventive maintenance and cleaning for safe, reliable operation.
• Performs machine changeovers and replaces tooling as needed.
• Opens/closes facility and handles startup/shutdown of equipment.
• Reads equipment manuals, drawings and schematics.

Job Description

Salary Range: $55,000 - $70,000

Position Summary
Maintains and repairs production equipment on all levels, keeping down time to a minimum. Also provides a safe working environment and practices safe working habits.

Essential Function

• Repairs various mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems and components (e.g. cylinders, valves, drives, etc.) installed on production machines
• Troubleshoots and diagnoses problems and or failures of automated equipment and initiates repair
• Adjusts and replaces various electrical sensors used for proper operation of assembly machine
• Performs preventative maintenance and cleaning of equipment on special runs to ensure safe reliable operation and makes suggestions for improvement
• Performs machine changeovers and replaces tooling as needed
• Opens/closes facility; startup/shut down equipment
• Uses metal working equipment such as powered hand tools, calipers, micrometers, and dial indicators
• Handles some spill responses and pest control as needed
• Changeover to generator power in emergency situations
• Rigging and moving of machinery as needed
• Reads and interprets equipment manuals, drawings and schematics

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

• Knowledge of machine operation of pneumatics, ladder logic, basic electrical systems, and operation of PLC equipment required
• Welding and machinery experience a plus
• Forklift and scissor lift certifications required

Education / Experience

• Associate's degree or equivalent from a two year Technical school w/ 2 years' experience repairing PLC controlled equipment OR a minimum of a HSD and 6 years' experience repairing PLC controlled equipment required
• 3-5 years' manufacturing industry experience required

Additional Information

This is a 1st shift position from 6:00 am - 2:30 pm, Monday - Friday.
