Job summary

Oetiker Group is seeking a Maintenance Technician in Town of Lancaster, NY to keep production equipment running and safe. You will troubleshoot mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems and perform preventive maintenance on production lines.

The role requires PLC experience, ladder logic, and electrical knowledge. Welding is a plus; forklift and scissor lift certifications are required. Working hours are 6:00 am to 2:30 pm, Monday through Friday, with competitive compensation and benefits.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or technical school credential with 2 years’ repair PLC equipment experience or a High School Diploma with 6 years’ PLC repair experience.
• 3–5 years’ manufacturing industry experience required.
• Knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulic systems, ladder logic, PLCs and electrical sensors is required.

Responsibilities

• Repairs mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems on production machines.
• Troubleshoots and diagnoses automated equipment failures and initiates repair.
• Replaces electrical sensors and adjusts machine controls as needed.
• Performs preventative maintenance and suggests safety/efficiency improvements.
• Handles machine changeovers and tooling replacements.
• Operates and moves machinery, starts up/shuts down equipment.

Job Description

Salary Range: $55,000 - $70,000

Position Summary

Maintains and repairs production equipment on all levels, keeping down time to a minimum. Also provides a safe working environment and practices safe working habits.

Essential Function

• Repairs various mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems and components (e.g. cylinders, valves, drives, etc.) installed on production machines
• Troubleshoots and diagnoses problems and or failures of automated equipment and initiates repair
• Adjusts and replaces various electrical sensors used for proper operation of assembly machine
• Performs preventative maintenance and cleaning of equipment on special runs to ensure safe reliable operation and makes suggestions for improvement
• Performs machine changeovers and replaces tooling as needed
• Opens/closes facility; startup/shut down equipment
• Uses metal working equipment such as powered hand tools, calipers, micrometers, and dial indicators
• Handles some spill responses and pest control as needed
• Changeover to generator power in emergency situationsRigging and moving of machinery as needed
• Reads and interprets equipment manuals, drawings and schematics

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

• Knowledge of machine operation of pneumatics, ladder logic, basic electrical systems, and operation of PLC equipment required
• Welding and machinery experience a plus
• Forklift and scissor lift certifications required

Education / Experience

• Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two year Technical school w/ 2 years’ experience repairing PLC controlled equipment OR a minimum of a HSD and 6 years’ experience repairing PLC controlled equipment required
• 3-5 years’ manufacturing industry experience required

This is a 1st shift position from 6:00 am - 2:30 pm, Monday - Friday.
