Conifer Realty in Ithaca, NY is seeking a Maintenance Technician for affordable housing to keep communities safe and comfortable. You’ll perform routine and preventive maintenance across painting, drywall, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry, helping residents feel secure and cared for.

This full-time role includes an on-call rotation, a 40-hour workweek, and growth opportunities with a company that has built communities for 50 years.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years in apartment, residential, or facilities maintenance (painting, drywall, plumbing, electrical, flooring; HVAC experience a plus).
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs regularly and up to 100 lbs occasionally.
• Reliable transportation and flexibility for overtime or nearby communities.
• Basic computer or mobile-app skills for work orders, timekeeping, and training.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine and preventive maintenance across trades (painting, drywall, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, cleaning).
• Maintain grounds and curb appeal (landscaping, snow/ice removal, seasonal upkeep).
• Respond quickly to work orders and rotate for emergency on-call coverage (within 30 minutes).
• Ensure safety, property, and inspection standards with precision.
• Collaborate with peers and residents, showing empathy and pride in repairs.

Salary: $24.00 - $26.00 | Full-Time | Monday–Friday, 40hrs| On-Call Rotation

What You’ll Bring as a Maintenance Technician

You’re skilled, dependable, and care about doing the job right. You bring:

• 2+ years of apartment, residential, or facilities maintenance experience (painting, drywall, plumbing, electrical, flooring; HVAC experience a plus).
• A high school diploma or GED.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs. regularly and up to 100 lbs. occasionally.
• Reliable transportation and flexibility to cover overtime or nearby communities when needed.
• Basic computer or mobile-app skills for work orders, timekeeping, and training (we’ll train you!).
• Strong communication and customer-service skills
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) skills, a plus that helps connect with our residents!

Work schedules may include Saturdays, based on property performance needs such as occupancy levels, leasing activity, and rent collections.

When required, weekend coverage will be scheduled on a rotating basis and aligned with business priorities.
