Job summary

Woodcraft Rangers in Big Bear Valley, CA is seeking a Maintenance Technician to upkeep camp facilities, perform routine repairs, and support events.

You will apply carpentry, plumbing, electrical skills and work under the Site Operations Manager to keep buildings safe and welcoming for youth programs.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2+ years of experience in general maintenance, construction, or related fields.
  • Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and carpentry systems.
  • Ability to operate maintenance tools and equipment safely.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 60 pounds, work on ladders, and perform tasks in various weather condition
  • Proficiency in technology tools, including scheduling software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to reside on-site during camp sessions if required.
  • Must be First Aid/CPR certified (Training provided by Woodcraft Rangers)
  • TB Clearance
  • Successful completion of livescan/background check with DOJ, FBI
  • Must be able to travel to Big Bear Valley, CA on a daily basis

Responsibilities

  • Facility Maintenance
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and general repairs.
  • Conduct camp morning patrol: walk facilities and ground to ensure the safety and security of all buildings.
  • Conduct regular inspections of camp buildings, cabins, and infrastructure to identify and address maintenance needs.
  • Assist with the upkeep of HVAC systems, ensuring efficient operation.
  • Support seasonal maintenance tasks such as winterizing buildings and preparing facilities for summer use.
  • Groundskeeping
  • Maintain campgrounds, including landscaping, snow removal, and debris cleanup.
  • Ensure walkways, outdoor recreation areas, and parking lots are clean, safe, and accessible.
  • Assist with fire prevention efforts, such as clearing brush and maintaining defensible space.
  • Equipment and Supplies
  • Assist with the maintenance and repair of tools, machinery, and equipment used on the property.
  • Track inventory of maintenance supplies and tools, reporting restocking needs to the Facilities Director.
  • Support for Projects and Events
  • Aid in the setup, teardown, and maintenance of facilities for special events, retreats, and programs.
  • Collaborate with the Facilities Director and other team members on renovation or improvement projects.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and guidelines during all projects and tasks.
  • Emergency Response
  • Respond promptly to urgent maintenance requests and facility-related emergencies.
  • Support the Facilities Director in implementing emergency preparedness and response protocols.

Role Overview:

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for assisting in the upkeep, repair, and maintenance of the camp’s facilities, ensuring the property remains safe, functional, and visually appealing. Working under the direction of the Site Operations Manager, this role involves hands-on tasks ranging from routine maintenance to minor repairs and special projects. This is a full-time, hourly position, ideal for detail-oriented individuals with a broad range of maintenance skills and a commitment to supporting the camp’s mission.

Responsibilities:

Facility Maintenance
