Job summary

McElroy Metal, a leading manufacturer of metal roofing and building components, seeks a Maintenance Technician for our Sunnyvale, Texas facility. This hourly role requires hands-on electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and strong safety focus.

You will work with production staff to keep equipment running smoothly and safely. The position reports to the Production Manager and offers full-time hours with day shifts.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years in mechanical/maintenance field.
• Experience with electrical/mechanical repairs.
• Ability to rotate shifts.
• Familiarity with OEM maintenance guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot electrical/mechanical systems and order parts.
• Dismantle devices to access faulty parts using hoists and tools.
• Inspect parts for wear and dimensional changes.
• Adjust components using hand tools, levels and calipers.
• Repair or replace defective parts with hand/power tools.
• Set up and operate lathe, drill press and grinder for parts.
• Provide preventive maintenance per OEM guidelines and timelines.
• Support overhead cranes and coordinate PM inspections with vendor.
• Document work performed and ensure safe operation of equipment.

Summary

McElroy Metal, a leading manufacturer of metal roofing and metal building components, currently has an opening for aMaintenance Technicianat our manufacturing facility located in Sunnyvale, Texas. This hourly position works both independently and with plant personnel to perform a variety of tasks to ensure that building/grounds, production equipment, and material handling equipment are functioning to manufacturer specs, are maintained for longevity, and operating safely. This position reports to the Production Manager.

Hours

8:00 am – 5:00 pm M-F or alternate shifts to accommodate production.

Responsibilities

• Perform all required electrical/mechanical troubleshooting on Company equipment, obtain necessary replacement parts, and perform required repairs.
• Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts, using hoists, cranes, hand tools, power tools.
• Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.
• Inspects used parts to determine to changes in dimensional requirements, using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
• Adjusts functional parts functional parts of devices and control instruments, using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs and straightedges.
• Repairs or replaces defective parts, using hand tools and power tools.
• Installs special functional and structural parts in devices, using hand tools.
• Assigned responsibility for LOTOTO and works with employees during such LOTOTO.
• Performs Preventive Maintenance on equipment following OEM guidelines and timeline
  • Provides weekly percent compliance of all major production equipment to the PM and OM
• Provides support for all overhead cranes and works with vendor for troubleshooting and scheduled PM/inspections.
• Works with Vendor on mobile equipment repairs and internal PM requirements
• Sets up and operates lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metal working tools to make and repair parts

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 2 to 3 years of experience in a mechanical/maintenance-related field.
• Demonstrated ability to perform electronic maintenance.
• Demonstrated ability to perform mechanical maintenance.
• Must have the ability to rotate shifts on occasion.
