Job summary

Jacam Chemical Company 2013, LLC in Sterling, KS is seeking a Maintenance Technician to install, repair, and maintain piping, pumps and fixed plant assets. The role requires physical work and basic computer use, with ability to read technical information.

It also involves hands-on and classroom training as part of development. You will perform preventative maintenance, assist with expansions, and support safety and housekeeping across the north and south plant facilities, including seasonal yard

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED is required.
  • Maintenance experience is preferred.
  • Logical and practical thinker with teamwork skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical information.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Lubricates, cleans, and repairs plant equipment on schedule.
  • Assess equipment condition and report problems to the supervisor.
  • Communicates issues clearly and concisely.
  • Maintains accuracy and quality of work; seeks quality improvements.
  • Identify and demonstrate use of common mechanical tools.
  • Maintain housekeeping across the plant.
  • Collaborate with others to keep plant operations safe and efficient.
  • Operate plant machinery as needed to move supplies or perform tasks.
  • Assist with expansion projects (conduits, piping, wiring).
  • Assist in maintenance of north and south plant facilities.
  • Seasonal yard work such as mowing and weed eating.

Also, person must be able to conduct both hands on and classroom training.

Essential Functions
  • Properly lubricates, cleans, and repairs assigned plant/shop equipment as per routine schedule.
  • Provides a basic assessment of general equipment condition and reports perceived problems to the proper authority.
  • Ability to communicate issues clearly and concisely.
  • Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; Looks for ways to improve and promote quality; Monitors own work to ensure quality.
  • Properly identify and demonstrate the basic use of common mechanical shop tools and equipment.
  • Maintains housekeeping throughout the plant.
  • Interact with other personnel to maintain safe, efficient operation of the plant.
  • Operate numerous plant machinery as needed to move supplies or products and/pr clean at facility.
  • Other assignments or projects as requested by the manager.
  • Assist as laborer for expansion projects, with duties such as helping with conduit, piping and wire pulls.
  • Assist in general maintenance of the north and south plant facilities as needed.
  • Seasonal yard work including mowing and weed eating.
Qualifications

Skills & Abilities
  • Computer Skills: Have basic computer skills. Efficiently navigate a web browser, follow online instructions, type and use a mouse.
  • Customer Service Skills: Meet internal and external commitments, respond promptly to customer needs, and solicit customer feedback to improve service.
  • Work Ethic: Be dependable, trustworthy, truthful, and credible in the workplace. Display a sincere desire to provide service or assistance, follow instructions, and take responsibility for own actions. Show a commitment to doing the best job possible.
  • Physical Abilities: Lift and carry 50 pounds in various packaging. Tip and move 55-gallon drums, weighing up to 600 pounds, with the use of a drum dolly.
  • Read product and chemical names.
  • Detailed oriented. Must be able to proof read documents.
Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in outside weather conditions. Employee will work in office environment also. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, traffic, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.
