Job summary

Weir Minerals in St. Louis, MO is seeking an experienced maintenance professional to perform preventive and repair maintenance on industrial equipment, including CNC machines. You will work collaboratively with a small team and prioritize safety in all operations.

Work Arrangement: Onsite, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, Monday to Friday, with chance for overtime

What You’ll Do
  • Maintenance & Repairs: Perform quality, major, and preventive maintenance on equipment and machinery inside the plant. Provide mechanical support for CNC machines (mills, lathes, grinders, drill presses) and building equipment including air compressors, forklifts, pallet jacks, lighting, etc. Daily tasks will range from general building maintenance to programming CNC machines.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Conduct morning preventive maintenance routines on machines and building systems. Expect 50% of your time to be dedicated to preventive maintenance and 50% to repairs.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and repair mechanical breakdowns, hydraulic issues, electrical circuits (including 480V 3-phase motors), pneumatic systems, HVAC, and plumbing problems.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with a small maintenance team of three others, sharing knowledge and supporting continuous improvement of processes, productivity, and quality. Maintain clear communication with supervisors about issues requiring attention and demonstrate the ability to independently handle assigned problems with trust and professionalism.

What You’ll Bring
Must-haves
  • Mechanical aptitude with strong hands‑on experience in industrial maintenance and repair.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in an industrial maintenance or mechanic role within a plant setting.
  • Proven experience performing maintenance on CNC machines.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues, including familiarity with 480V electrical systems.
Nice-to-haves
  • Electrical skills with experience working on high voltage circuits (480V).
  • Experience with pipe fitting and rigging related to equipment installation or movement.
  • Familiarity with HVAC systems and pneumatic circuits.
  • Prior experience working in a collaborative, small team environment.
