Job Overview

This skilled, semi-skilled position involves repairing and maintaining machinery, equipment, and buildings. The technician exercises independence in work methods, receiving oral or written instructions, often with sketches or diagrams. Work is reviewed through inspections and discussions.

Responsibilities

1. Install electrical systems, wiring, controls, outlets, fixtures, and motors.
2. Perform preventative maintenance using testing instruments like voltmeters and pressure gauges.
3. Test and calibrate pneumatic HVAC controls.
4. Maintain commercial refrigeration equipment, including daily inspections and repairs.
5. Perform construction, welding, brazing, soldering, and plumbing tasks.
6. Check and repair pumps, fans, valves, and motors.
7. Adjust and replace electrical and pneumatic relays.
8. Install and repair pipes, fittings, and fixtures for heating, water, air, and sewer systems.
9. Maintain lift trucks and pallet jacks.
10. Organize and maintain tools and parts storage.
11. Keep accurate records of preventive maintenance.
12. Check CCTV systems daily and address issues.
13. Perform other duties as assigned and file work orders daily.
14. Conduct routine inspections of emergency eye-wash and showers as per safety protocols.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, manuals, and diagrams; capable of writing reports and effective communication.
• Mathematical skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and interpreting graphs.
• Ability to understand and follow instructions in various formats.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; trade school diploma preferred.
• Two years’ experience in building and plant maintenance, including electrical, mechanical, refrigeration, and trades.
• Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
• EPA certification preferred.
