Foundation for Blind Children in Phoenix is seeking a part-time Facilities Worker to support three campuses. This role works about 25 hours per week and helps with daily operations, safety, cleanliness, and campus upkeep.

You will assist with room setup, cleaning, supply management, basic maintenance, and fleet vehicle coordination, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for students, families, employees, and visitors.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in facilities maintenance or custodial services required.
  • Previous experience working in a school setting preferred.
  • Ability to safely use basic hand tools, maintenance supplies, and facility equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify maintenance, cleanliness, and safety concerns.
  • Ability to follow instructions, complete assigned tasks independently, and communicate needs or concerns appropriately.
  • Valid Arizona Driver’s License required.
  • Fingerprint Clearance Card issued by the Arizona DPS, or ability to obtain clearance, required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with room setup and breakdown for meetings, events, and school activities.
  • Respond to basic facilities and supply requests; restock supplies.
  • Assist with cleaning and disinfecting classrooms following incidents.
  • Move furniture, equipment, and supplies as needed for operations and events.
  • Maintain outdoor areas by picking up litter and keeping walkways clean and safe.
  • Identify hazards and report maintenance needs or unsafe conditions.
  • Maintain inventory of custodial and maintenance supplies.
  • Receive, organize, and distribute deliveries as appropriate.
  • Perform basic preventative maintenance tasks for safe operations.
  • Carry out indoor/outdoor painting tasks and touch-ups as needed.
  • Replace bulbs, air filters, batteries, and other routine items.
  • Coordinate routine maintenance of fleet vehicles (oil changes, tire checks).
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Job description

Foundation for Blind Children is currently seeking applicans for a part time Facilities Worker to support our three campuses in the Phoenix area. This position will work approximately 25 hours per week. The Facilities Worker supports the daily operations, safety, cleanliness, and functionality of the campuses. This position assists with facility setup, basic maintenance, supply inventory, deliveries, fleet vehicle maintenance coordination, and general campus support to help ensure a safe, welcoming, and well-maintained environment for students, clients, families, employees, and visitors.Job Duties Include:Assist with room setup and breakdown for meetings, events, school activities, and other FBC functions.Respond to basic facilities and supply requests, including restocking paper towels, soap, and other commonly used supplies.Assist with cleaning and disinfecting classrooms or other areas following spills or other incidents, following established health and safety procedures.Move furniture, equipment, supplies, and materials as needed to support campus operations and events.Maintain outdoor areas by picking up litter and helping ensure walkways, entrances, and common areas remain clean, accessible, and safe.Support campus safety efforts by identifying and reporting potential hazards, maintenance needs, or unsafe conditions.Maintain inventory of custodial and maintenance supplies and communicate supply needs in a timely manner.Receive, organize, and distribute deliveries as appropriate.Perform basic preventative maintenance tasks to support safe and efficient campus operations.Perform indoor and outdoor painting tasks, including surface preparation, touch-ups, minor wall repairs, and cleanup following completion of work.Complete general facility maintenance and upkeep tasks to support clean, safe, functional, and well-maintained indoor and outdoor campus spaces.Replace light bulbs, air filters, batteries, and other routine items as needed.Facilitate routine maintenance of fleet vehicles, including coordinating or completing oil changes, tire pressure checks, fluid checks, and related tasks.Perform other duties as needed.Previous experience in facilities maintenance or custodial services required.Previous experience working in a school setting preferred.Ability to safely use basic hand tools, maintenance supplies, and facility equipment.Strong attention to detail and ability to identify maintenance, cleanliness, and safety concerns.Ability to follow instructions, complete assigned tasks independently, and communicate needs or concerns appropriately.Ability to work positively and professionally with students, clients, families, employees, visitors, and vendors.Valid Arizona Driver’s License required.Fingerprint Clearance Card issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety, or ability to obtain clearance, required.Physical Requirements:Regular walking, standing, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, kneeling, and crouching.Ability to lift, carry, move, and position furniture, equipment, supplies, and materials as needed, up to 80 pounds.Ability to safely operate basic tools and equipment used for routine facilities and maintenance tasks.Ability to work indoors and outdoors while performing essential job duties.Ability to drive to FBC satellite campuses or other sites as assigned.
