Job summary

Foundation for Blind Children in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a full-time Assistive Technology Instructor to empower adults entering the job market with adaptive technology skills at the Central Campus.

You will assess client needs, coordinate recommendations, document progress, and participate in team meetings to support rehabilitation goals. Qualified applicants hold a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or AT certifications and fingerprint clearance.

Qualifications

  • Fingerprint Clearance Card required or ability to obtain one.
  • Bachelor's degree in Rehabilitation Engineering, Occupational Therapy, Information Technology or similar; OR
  • AT certifications from ACVREP/NCATB or similar organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Teach assistive technology skills to adults entering the job market.
  • Participate in meetings regarding student progress while in the program.
  • Develop and maintain competencies for the assistive technology component of rehabilitation.
  • Coordinate and facilitate technology recommendations for students in the program.
  • Submit thorough and timely evaluation and progress reports.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Job Introduction

Foundation for Blind Children is currently seeking qualified candidates for a full time Assistive Technology Instructor! This position is part of our Adult Comprehensive Services team, located at our Central Campus in Phoenix. Job Duties
  • Teach assistive technology skills to adults entering the job market

Qualifications

Required:

  • Fingerprint Clearance Card issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety, or ability to obtain clearance, required.
  • Hold a Bachelor's degree in Rehabilitation Engineering, Occupational Therapy, Information Technology or a similar field; OR
  • Hold certificates in Assistive Technology (AT) from the Academy for Certification of Vision Rehabilitation & Education Professionals (ACVREP), National Certification Assistive Technology for the Blind (NCATB), or a similar organization; OR
  • Have at least one (1) year documented experience with teaching Assistive Technology (AT) to persons with blindness or vision impairment; OR
  • Have at least one (1) year documented experience with installing and configuring Assistive Technology (AT) products and Information Technologies to persons with blindness or vision impairment; OR
  • Have documented product‑specific training from manufacturers, or other documented product expertise relevant to persons with blindness or vision impairment

Preferred:

  • Proficiency in Zoom Text, JAWS, NVDA, iPhone and iPad accessibility functions
  • Experience in the visual impairment rehabilitation field
