Job summary

Amcor is seeking a Maintenance Technician to service and repair machinery, buildings, and equipment at our Pennsylvania facility. You will set up, adjust, and maintain equipment, ensuring production efficiency and quality in line with safety procedures and OSHA guidelines.

The role requires 3–7 years of industrial maintenance experience, blueprints literacy, and strong troubleshooting skills. Overtime, weekends, and on-call work are expected as part of operations support.

Qualifications

  • 3-7 years of industrial maintenance experience.
  • Background in polyethylene film manufacturing a plus.
  • Ability to read electrical and mechanical blueprints to plan setup and operation of machine tools.
  • Must be available for overtime, weekends, and on-call.
  • English language proficiency for instructions and safety communications.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes mechanical and operational problems on assigned equipment, plans for and takes corrective action as directed.
  • Tests equipment to check operation and cleans jams; performs start-ups after repairs and changeovers.
  • Notifies Maintenance Manager of recurring malfunctions and corrective actions; directs trainees as needed.
  • Troubleshoots and maintains equipment including pumps, fans, motors, and drives across the plant.
  • Adheres to EH&S programs to ensure a safe, clean workplace and compliance with regulations.

Job Description
PURPOSE

The Maintenance Technician performs various skilled and semi-skilled tasks in the repair and maintenance of machinery, buildings, and equipment including construction, brazing, soldering, and plumbing. Will set up, adjust and maintain assigned equipment with responsibility for production and quality on this equipment. Starts up and shuts down equipment in line with company safety procedures for equipment under power and OSHA guidelines.

Responsibilities
  • Analyzes mechanical and operational problems on assigned equipment, plans for, and takes corrective action as directed. Make necessary corrections and running adjustments to maintain maximum production and quality.
  • Tests equipment to check operation and cleans jams. Runs equipment after repairs, changeovers or extended downtime. Make preventative maintenance checks and inspections.
  • Notifies the Maintenance Manager or Lead Mechanic of reoccurring equipment malfunctions and corrective action recommended, and of quality, problems or supplies needed. Instructs and directs any maintenance trainees assigned.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain a variety of mechanic/electrical equipment including air compressors, repair rollers, chains, bearings, install seals, sprockets, chillers, Gear boxes, pumps, fans, valves, motors, extruders, dies, grinders, winders, bag machines and various other support equipment of this plant.
  • Responsible for adhering to and executing the applicable Environmental Health & Safety programs in order to provide a safe and clean workplace for all employees according to Amcor, local, state, and federal requirement-regulations.
OPERATIONAL COMMUNICATIONS

Knowledgeable concerning complex electrical and mechanical principles. Must have considerable knowledge of the practice, methods, tools, equipment and materials of the electrical trade. Knowledge of the occupational hazards of the electrical trade and the necessary safety precautions. Knowledge of applicable electrical codes. Skill in the use and care of tools and equipment of the electrical trade. Able to mentally visualize and comprehend all aspects of a manufacturing equipment or tooling problems, understand the inter-relationships of factors affecting a given situation and to be attentive to detail. Capable of efficiently integrating existing methods with innovations to solve production problems in a timely manner. Has initiative and ability to work effectively with little direction. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and management staff. Self-motivated with good problem-solving skills.

Qualifications
  • 3-7 years of Industrial Maintenance experience necessary.
  • Previous knowledge of machinery used in polyethylene film manufacturing a plus
  • Background in a lead three of the following welding, machinist, mechanic, electrical, plumbing, pipefitting or maintenance.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical blueprints to plan setup and operation of all types of machine shop tools.
  • Knowledge concerning mechanical and electrical principles and machining practices. Knowledgeable concerning modern fabrication and assembly techniques and machine-shop practices and techniques.
  • Able to mentally visualize and comprehend all aspects of a manufacturing equipment or tooling problems, understand the inter-relationships of factors affecting a given situation, and to be attentive to detail.
  • Proficient at using electrical testing equipment to troubleshoot and repair equipment malfunctions.
  • Must be available for working overtime, weekends, and call and shutdown.
Language Skills

Ability to read, write, understand and communicate in English. Able to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.

Mathematical Skills

Must have very good mathematical skills with abilities to use electrical measuring and gauging tools.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions on this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts and live electrical components. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to very loud. An essential part of this position is to work in a teamwork environment. The employee is continuously exposed to temperature variances; extreme heat during the Spring and Summer and cold temperatures during the Winter.
