Job summary

International Flavors & Fragrances Inc. seeks a Maintenance Technician to service packaging equipment at the Clackamas, OR site. The role includes installing, diagnosing, and repairing mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and electronic systems to minimize downtime and maintain quality production.

The position requires 4–5 years of mechanical experience, a valid driver’s license, and US work authorization. On-site work with potential for extended hours. OSHA and FDA/cGMP familiarity is preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4-5 years mechanical experience in manufacturing or similar environment.
• Valid Driver’s License required.
• Pre-employment drug screen and background check.
• FDA/cGMP compliance experience preferred.
• U.S. work authorization.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled and emergency repairs on plant utilities and equipment.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and electronic systems.
• Assist production to complete daily schedule.
• Install new equipment and prepare machinery for production runs.
• Provide urgent repairs and return equipment to service promptly.
• Diagnose downtime sources and implement corrective actions to minimize future outages.
• Understand facilities (chillers, boilers, plumbing, electrical, HVAC) requirements and preventive maintenance.
• Communicate with operators and vendors as needed.

Under the direction of the Maintenance Manager, responsible for performing a variety of tasks to install, set-up, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production equipment. Participate in installation, upgrade and maintenance of facility all according to safety and maintenance standards and processes to accomplish goals and objectives. Nothing in this job description restricts management's right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time.* Ability to be at the physical location of the job at the designated shift assigned.* Ability to be in On-Call Status, and/or work 6-7 day work week based off maintenance and production needs.* Perform scheduled and emergency repairs on plant utilities and equipment.* Troubleshoot all mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and electronic systems using test instruments when necessary* Assist production until daily schedule is complete* Work as a team with operators* Contact vendors on price, availability and purchase or parts and supplies* Install new equipment* Answer questions regarding operation of systems and equipment for entire facility* Assist with and prepare machinery setup for scheduled production runs* Make necessary corrections and running adjustments to maintain maximum production and quality* Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production. Diagnose and prioritize problems, replace or repair parts, test and adjustment as required to return machinery to service.* Perform prioritized and scheduled maintenance repairs.* Understand production systems and machinery thoroughly, diagnose sources of failure or downtime, identify and correct to avoid unnecessary or repeated downtime. Anticipate wear and/or downtime through routine observation and operator feedback.* Understand basic facilities and infrastructure (chillers, boilers, plumbing, electrical, HVAC) requirements and operating conditions, perform preventative maintenance as scheduled, repair unscheduled interruptions as needed to return systems to service and minimize operations downtime.* Other duties as assigned* Must be able to successfully pass all job-related tests and certifications required for working in a cGMP, quality environment including but not limited to: inspections and GMP requirements to perform essential functions of the job.
