Job summary

U-Mix Products Company, a NEBCO Company, is seeking a high performing maintenance technician to join our team. This role is responsible for the daily repair and upkeep of plant equipment and property; it may require transporting product or equipment as needed.

Must follow the Safety Program and demonstrate reliable attendance. The position emphasizes inspection, diagnosis, and repair of equipment, welding and fabrication tasks, and preventative maintenance.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required; 3 years metal fabrication experience or 6 months related mechanic experience.
• Equivalent combination of education, experience, and training acceptable.
• CDL Class A training; optional but helpful; training to obtain CDL may be required.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safe and efficient operation of the shop through maintenance, inspection and repair of equipment and plant conditions.
• Inspects and diagnoses machine problems accurately and promptly.
• Welding, torching, cutting and fabrication to build and maintain equipment safely.
• Maintain shop, equipment, tools, and vehicles to ensure availability.
• Request parts, equipment and supplies to maintain inventory.
• Transport tools and supplies to other plants or affiliates as needed.
• Operate sand and gravel equipment; use skid-loader or forklift as needed.
• Respond to emergencies to resolve safety concerns.
• Assist in performing preventative maintenance on equipment.
• Operate plant according to production schedules.
• Keep facilities clean and safe and report problems.

Job Summary

U-Mix Products Company is looking for a high performing maintenance technician to join our team. This position is r esponsible for the daily repair, upkeep of plants, equipment and property of U-Mix and provide product/equipment transport when necessary. Must abide by Company Safety Program and Policies, while performing duties safely. Consistent and reliable attendance is required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Include, but are not limited to, the following:

Ensure safe and efficient operation of the shop through maintenance, inspection and repair of the equipment and operating conditions of the facilities.

Inspects and diagnoses machine technical problems in an accurate and timely manner.

Works in a manufacturing setting that requires welding, torching, cutting, and fabrication on various items for the purpose of building and maintaining the equipment and operating conditions while ensuring safety.

Maintains shop, equipment, tools, vehicle, etc. for the purpose of ensuring the availability and functioning of required items.

Request parts, equipment and supplies for the purpose of maintaining inventory and ensuring availability of required items.

Transports various items, such as tools, equipment, and supplies, to other plants, job sites, or affiliated companies &/or pick up product from affiliated companies, as needed, to ensure availability of materials required.

Operates sand and gravel equipment as required for the purpose of supporting completion of work activities. As needed, use a skid-loader, forklift, and/or loader to work around the plant and dredge.

Responds to emergency situations as needed and/or assigned for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.

Assists in performing preventative maintenance on equipment.

Operates plant based on production schedules to assure appropriate sequence of operations.

Keeps plant facilities clean and safe for efficient operation and notifies appropriate personnel of any problems.

Other duties may be assigned.

Education and/or Experience

• High School diploma or general education degree (GED): and
• Three years of experience in metal fabrication and/or six months related mechanic experience; or
• an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

• Valid Commercial Driver’s License (Class A) is helpful but not required.
• Must be able to be trained and obtain CDL, if needed, and be insurable under the company insurance program.

Qualifications

• Must be able to work a 45 hr shift per week.
• Must have basic working skills and demonstrated ability in electrical, mechanical and plumbing.
• Ability to operate hand tools.
• Welding and cutting torch skills are preferred.
• Basic knowledge of the operation and maintenance of small diesel motors and standard motor vehicles.
• Previous aggregate processing and gravel pit experience would be very helpful.
• Ability to read and comprehend work orders, SDS sheets and the company safety manual.
• Must be able to read blueprints.
• Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Other Skills and Abilities

• Must have a good sense of detail and work to maintain a clean and safe plant environment.
• Ability to apply common sense and implement sound troubleshooting skills to analyze, evaluate and diagnose a problem.
• Must have a good understanding of numbers and measurement.
• Must be able to distinguish between safe and unsafe conditions.
• Must be able to operate with minimal supervision, be a trouble shooter and take initiative to investigate and resolve problems.
• Must demonstrate willingness to perform other support duties during non-busy times.
