Job summary

U-Mix Products Company is seeking a high performing maintenance technician to join our team. This role maintains and repairs plant equipment and facilities, and transports materials as needed to ensure production continuity.

We require a strong safety mindset, reliable attendance, and the ability to operate welders and related equipment. The position involves a 45-hour week and may include driving duties in support of operations.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• Three years of experience in metal fabrication and/or six months related mechanic experience; or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safe and efficient operation of the shop through maintenance and repair of equipment and facilities.
• Diagnose machine problems accurately and promptly.
• Perform welding, torching, cutting and fabrication as required.
• Maintain shop, tools, vehicles and inventory to ensure availability of items.
• Transport tools and equipment between plants or job sites as needed.
• Operate plant equipment per production schedules; assist in preventive maintenance.

Job Summary

U-Mix Products Company is looking for a high performing maintenance technician to join our team. This position is r esponsible for the daily repair, upkeep of plants, equipment and property of U-Mix and provide product/equipment transport when necessary. Must abide by Company Safety Program and Policies, while performing duties safely. Consistent and reliable attendance is required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Include, but are not limited to, the following:

Ensure safe and efficient operation of the shop through maintenance, inspection and repair of the equipment and operating conditions of the facilities.

Inspects and diagnoses machine technical problems in an accurate and timely manner.

Works in a manufacturing setting that requires welding, torching, cutting, and fabrication on various items for the purpose of building and maintaining the equipment and operating conditions while ensuring safety.

Maintains shop, equipment, tools, vehicle, etc. for the purpose of ensuring the availability and functioning of required items.

Request parts, equipment and supplies for the purpose of maintaining inventory and ensuring availability of required items.

Transports various items, such as tools, equipment, and supplies, to other plants, job sites, or affiliated companies &/or pick up product from affiliated companies, as needed, to ensure availability of materials required.

Operates sand and gravel equipment as required for the purpose of supporting completion of work activities. As needed, use a skid-loader, forklift, and/or loader to work around the plant and dredge.

Responds to emergency situations as needed and/or assigned for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.

Assists in performing preventative maintenance on equipment.

Operates plant based on production schedules to assure appropriate sequence of operations.

Keeps plant facilities clean and safe for efficient operation and notifies appropriate personnel of any problems.

Other duties may be assigned.

Education and/or Experience

• High School diploma or general education degree (GED): and
• Three years of experience in metal fabrication and/or six months related mechanic experience; or
• an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

• Valid Commercial Driver’s License (Class A) is helpful but not required.
• Must be able to be trained and obtain CDL, if needed, and be insurable under the company insurance program.

Qualifications

• Must be able to work a 45 hr shift per week.
• Must have basic working skills and demonstrated ability in electrical, mechanical and plumbing.
• Ability to operate hand tools.
• Welding and cutting torch skills are preferred.
• Basic knowledge of the operation and maintenance of small diesel motors and standard motor vehicles.
• Previous aggregate processing and gravel pit experience would be very helpful.
• Ability to read and comprehend work orders, SDS sheets and the company safety manual.
• Must be able to read blueprints.
• Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Other Skills and Abilities

• Must have a good sense of detail and work to maintain a clean and safe plant environment.
• Ability to apply common sense and implement sound troubleshooting skills to analyze, evaluate and diagnose a problem.
• Must have a good understanding of numbers and measurement.
• Must be able to distinguish between safe and unsafe conditions.
• Must be able to operate with minimal supervision, be a trouble shooter and take initiative to investigate and resolve problems.
• Must demonstrate willingness to perform other support duties during non-busy times.
