Job summary

Léman Manhattan is seeking a versatile Facilities Maintenance Assistant to support daily building operations, supervise cleaning contractors, and help manage space reconfigurations across campus. The role involves repairing and installing various systems to keep facilities safe and functional.

The position requires teamwork with custodians and engineers, responds to emergencies, and ensures proper maintenance of pools, gutters, and essential infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Assist day-to-day operations for building maintenance, including custodians and maintenance tech.
• Assist to supervise cleaning contractors to ensure full scope of their responsibilities across classrooms, gyms, offices, and common areas.
• Assist with facility re-organization of classrooms, offices, gym, kitchen, and common spaces for all locations.
• Assist maintaining an organized key system for access control.
• Assist in repair and/or installation of items and systems to keep facilities safe and functional.
• Assist other maintenance personnel in completing their work.
• Assist with daily pool maintenance, chemical balance, and pumps upkeep to minimize downtime.
• Perform painting tasks as directed to keep facilities attractive.
• Clean gutters, drains, and related components to ensure proper operation.
• Install system components and equipment as needed for safety and efficiency.
• Maintain tools and equipment for readiness and safety.
• Request equipment and supplies to maintain inventory.
• Respond to emergencies to resolve safety concerns.
• Perform grounds-related tasks to keep the campus attractive and safe.

Main Purpose of the Role:

This position will assists in the repair and/or installation of various items, systems and/or components as may be required (e.g. broken windows, roofs, building structures, floors, hand rails, stairs, lighting systems, HVAC units, electrical units/service (120/240/480 10 and 30), plumbing/sewer systems, metal fabrication, electrical ballast, electrical switches replacement etc.) for the purpose of ensuring that items are available and in safe working condition.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with the day to day operations for the building including custodians and maintenance tech, engineer staff on assigned roles and tasks and daily lists.
• Assist to supervise 41 Broad cleaning companies to make sure full scope of their responsibility is covered every day in regards classroom, classroom furniture, gyms, hallways, office, pool, cafeteria areas are properly clean.
• Assist with facility re-organization of classrooms, offices, gym, kitchen, apartments for all Leman locations.
• Assist maintaining an organized key system for 41 Broad..
• Assists in the repair and/or installation of various items, systems and/or components as may be required (e.g. broken windows, roofs, building structures, floors, handrails, stairs, lighting systems, HVAC units, electrical units/service (120/240/480 10 and 30), plumbing/sewer systems, metal fabrication, electrical ballast, electrical switches replacement etc.) for the purpose of ensuring that items are available and in safe working condition.
• Assists other grounds and maintenance personnel for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
• Assist with daily inspections and general maintenance for our pools including troubleshooting; chemical balance/calibration, pumps upkeep and repairs to minimize downtime.
• Perform event setups-breakdowns & clean up
• Perform painting tasks as directed for the purpose of maintaining attractive facilities and minimizing damage.
• Cleans and performs minor repairs of gutters, drains and scuppers for the purpose of ensuring proper operation and adequate drainage.
• Installs system component parts, classroom and office equipment and facility components as may be required for the purpose of maintaining facilities in a safe, comfortable and operating condition.
• Maintains tools and/or equipment for the purpose of ensuring the availability of equipment in safe operating condition.
• Requests equipment and supplies for the purpose of maintaining inventory and ensuring availability of required items.
• Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.
• Performs grounds related functions as may be required for the purpose of preserving grounds in a healthy, attractive and safe condition
