Job summary

JHI Group’s Firelands Fabrication division seeks a Maintenance Technician to support daily shop maintenance and operation. This first-shift, hands-on role focuses on troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining fabrication equipment to keep operations safe and efficient.

You will service electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, operate handling equipment, and assist with general shop maintenance while adhering to safety standards.

Qualifications

• The candidate has a high school diploma or equivalent and strong mechanical aptitude.
• Experience with industrial or fabrication equipment is preferred.
• Knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems is required.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair electrical, hydraulic, and compressed air systems on shop equipment.
• Repair electric and pneumatic hand tools and maintain shop assets.
• Maintain gas and diesel engines and related equipment.
• Operate forklifts, scissor lifts, and other material-handling gear.
• Use plasma and oxygen/acetylene torches and perform general preventative maintenance.

Job Title: Maintenance Technician

Division: Firelands Fabrication

Reports to: Shop Supervisor

FLSA: Hourly

Position Summary

The Maintenance Technician is to support the day-to-day maintenance and operation of our fabrication shop. This is a hands-on, first-shift position responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining shop equipment and tools to help keep operations running safely and efficiently.

Essential Functions

• Troubleshoot and repair electrical, hydraulic, and compressed air systems on shop equipment


• Troubleshoot and repair electric and pneumatic hand tools


• Perform maintenance and repairs on gas and diesel engines


• Operate forklifts, scissor lifts, and other material-handling equipment


• Operate and assist with maintaining fabrication equipment


• Use plasma torches and oxygen/acetylene torches


• Perform general preventative maintenance and equipment repairs


• Assist with other shop and facility maintenance needs as necessary

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.


• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills


• Experience with industrial or fabrication equipment preferred


• Working knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems


• Experience with gas and diesel engines


• Ability to safely operate material-handling equipment


• Experience with plasma and oxygen/acetylene torches


• Welding experience is a plus


• Dependable, safety-minded, and comfortable working independently

Working Conditions

The primary work location will be within a manufacturing facility equipped with modern machinery and tools. The facility is designed to provide a controlled environment for welding operations. General start and stop times vary depending on the project, but normally range from 6:00am-4:30pm, normally working four (4)-10 hour days.
