Description
The primary purpose of the Maintenance Technician is to work in a team or autonomously performing basic to mid-level mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance on equipment in accordance with manufacturer's manuals, diagrams, sketches, and prints.
Responsibilities
- Follow all safety related policies, rules, regulations, technical instructions, and guidelines.
- Maintain situational awareness and identify unsafe behaviors and conditions.
- Perform basic to mid-level break‑fix and preventative maintenance.
- Perform troubleshooting, dismantling, examining, adjusting, repairing or replacing defective parts, and testing of devices to observe performance.
- Recondition and repair machine tools; re‑align and adjust components such as belts, spindles, clutches; remove and replace bearings, gearboxes, drive gears, and motors.
- Locate damaged air and hydraulic pipes on machines, measure, cut, thread, and install new pipe.
- Identify and source parts, supplies, and repair items as necessary.
- Independently perform maintenance as per industry standards.
- Set up and operate multiple machining operations including drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.
- Perform welding tasks if required.
- Comply with 5S and housekeeping standards.
- Engage in continuous improvement activities, process and cost savings.
- Update records and review CMMS history.
- Utilize predictive maintenance technologies to collect equipment performance data.
- Work within small teams and/or with contractors.
- Complete on-the-job and technical self‑study programs for career development.
- Work in and around the buildings and grounds as needed.
Qualifications
- Work safety oriented.
- Strong working knowledge of computers and food processing equipment.
- Developed verbal and written communication skills.
- Team player, self‑starter, motivator, goal oriented, strategic thinker.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
- Perform duties while standing, walking, using hands/fingers, reaching, climbing, ascending/descending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling; occasionally sit.
- Occasionally lift or move more than 50 pounds.
- Use close vision and color vision; be routinely exposed to outside weather conditions ranging from -35°F and up.
- Risk of electrical shock; work primarily in factory environment that is typically loud and may expose to hazardous materials and/or greasy or slippery floors.
