Job summary

Spectrum Preferred Meats is seeking a full-time Maintenance Technician in Mount Morris, Illinois. Description

The primary purpose of the Maintenance Technician is to work in a team or autonomously performing basic to mid-level mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance on equipment in accordance with manufacturer's manuals, diagrams, sketches, and prints.

Responsibilities
  • Follow all safety related policies, rules, regulations, technical instructions, and guidelines.
  • Maintain situational awareness and identify unsafe behaviors and conditions.
  • Perform basic to mid-level break‑fix and preventative maintenance.
  • Perform troubleshooting, dismantling, examining, adjusting, repairing or replacing defective parts, and testing of devices to observe performance.
  • Recondition and repair machine tools; re‑align and adjust components such as belts, spindles, clutches; remove and replace bearings, gearboxes, drive gears, and motors.
  • Locate damaged air and hydraulic pipes on machines, measure, cut, thread, and install new pipe.
  • Identify and source parts, supplies, and repair items as necessary.
  • Independently perform maintenance as per industry standards.
  • Set up and operate multiple machining operations including drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.
  • Perform welding tasks if required.
  • Comply with 5S and housekeeping standards.
  • Engage in continuous improvement activities, process and cost savings.
  • Update records and review CMMS history.
  • Utilize predictive maintenance technologies to collect equipment performance data.
  • Work within small teams and/or with contractors.
  • Complete on-the-job and technical self‑study programs for career development.
  • Work in and around the buildings and grounds as needed.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions
  • Perform duties while standing, walking, using hands/fingers, reaching, climbing, ascending/descending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling; occasionally sit.
  • Occasionally lift or move more than 50 pounds.
  • Use close vision and color vision; be routinely exposed to outside weather conditions ranging from -35°F and up.
  • Risk of electrical shock; work primarily in factory environment that is typically loud and may expose to hazardous materials and/or greasy or slippery floors.
