Job summary

Abraxas Youth & Family Services is seeking a Maintenance Technician in Morgantown, PA to maintain and repair physical structures and mechanical systems. The role encompasses a range of duties including fixing plumbing and electrical issues, ensuring proper climate control through HVAC maintenance, and adhering to safety standards.

The ideal candidate must be at least 21 years old, have a high school diploma, and possess excellent communication skills. Competitive pay is offered at $26.00 per hour along with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Working knowledge of maintenance regulations.
  • Valid Pennsylvania driver's license required.
  • Ability to work flexible hours as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on facility structures.
  • Fix plumbing issues to prevent water damage.
  • Address electrical problems and maintain HVAC systems.

Abraxas Academy - 1000 Academy Drive - Morgantown, PA 19543

In this role, you will join a team responsible for maintaining and repairing physical structures, vehicles, and mechanical systems of the facility and adjacent grounds through the use of proper maintenance methods and materials.

Wage: $26.00 per hour

Shift: Varies

Maintenance Technician duties

Maintenance Technician duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Performing routine maintenance around the building such as fixing structural damage, for example, window, door or wall repair
  • Repairing broken or leaking plumbing to avoid water damage and restore full use of water fixtures
  • Working on damaged electrical wiring when a shortage or severed wire occurs
  • Maintaining the building HVAC equipment in order to keep climate control in the facility functioning properly
  • Applying preventative measures to the building to reduce the risk of future problems, such as using a sealant on a flat roof
  • Fixing potential safety hazards to avoid injuries
  • Painting the building when old paint has become faded or chipped
  • Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customer
Basic Qualifications & Skills
  • At least twenty-one (21) years of age.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Preferred Certification / Licensure and experience in assigned maintenance field (ex: Automotive, HVAC, Masonry)
  • Valid PA driver’s license.
  • Working knowledge of local, state and federal regulations as they relate to the maintenance industry.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Ability to work with all types of piping (pvc, copper, black iron, etc.) and the necessary tools required by each type.
  • Ability to work with various electrical voltages (120, 208, 12, 277) in the various phases (single and three phase).
  • Clear oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to handle loads of up to 50 pounds.
  • Stationary Engineer’s license - preferred.
  • Certification from American Refrigeration Institute - preferred.
  • Certification in HVAC from a recognized institution - preferred.
  • Must be flexible regarding scheduling based on business demands, including nights, weekends and Holidays as needed.
  • Non-communicable diseases physical exam.
  • Successful completion of criminal background check and drug screen.
