Job summary

Nucor Corporation in Monroe, NC is seeking a maintenance technician specializing in welding to perform repairs and preventive maintenance on conveyor and hydraulic systems. The role involves MIG welding, 7018 electrodes, and operating across indoor and outdoor environments on a 2nd shift (4pm–1am, Monday–Friday).

Responsibilities

• Follow company and OSHA safety procedures.

• Perform MIG welding and stick welding using 7018.
• Change liners, grates, and hammers.
• Work in indoor and outdoor environments.
• Assist maintenance and production during repairs.

Division: Metal Recycling Services LLC

Location: Monroe, NC, United States

Compensation: Up to $80,000 annually

Basic Job Functions

• Properly follow company and OSHA safety procedures.
• Second Shift: 4p-1a Monday - Friday
• Maintain and repair all equipment including but not limited to conveyor and hydraulic systems, bearings, gear boxes, motors, shredder, eddy current, baler, etc.
• MIG welding/stick welding using 7018.
• Change liners, grates, hammers, etc.
• Work in outdoor and indoor environments.
• Minor cleanup and other duties as assigned.
• Assist other maintenance and production personnel during scheduled repair projects.

Minimum Qualifications

• Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
• Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
• Flexible working overtime in an industrial environment which includes being outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Ability to work standing or walking for up to 10 hours per day.

Preferred Qualifications

• 1-year previous maintenance/welding experience preferred.
