Job summary

Point Real Estate Management is seeking a skilled and dependable Maintenance Technician to join our team at apartment communities on the north side of Milwaukee. This full‑time role supports the quality, safety and appearance of our properties and helps ensure resident satisfaction.

The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience with electrical, plumbing, carpentry, drywall, painting and HVAC maintenance.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of full‑time apartment maintenance or related trade experience.
  • Own basic set of hand tools.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Available to participate in a rotating on‑call schedule.
  • Ability to perform work at multiple locations in the area as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Handle service requests and complete tasks within 24 hours.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and prep apartments for new residents (Make Readies).
  • Assist in common area upkeep and grounds work as needed.
  • Maintain pool chemical levels and cleanliness.
  • Repair/replace plumbing, electrical fixtures, fixtures, appliances and hardware.
  • Paint interior and exterior surfaces as required.
  • Assist in custodial tasks (sweeping, mopping, windows).
  • Be on call for standby emergencies, evenings, weekends and holidays.

Description

Point Real Estate Management is seeking a skilled and dependable Maintenance Technician to join our team! This full-time position will support neighboring apartment communities on the north side of Milwaukee and play a vital role in maintaining the quality, safety, and appearance of our properties.

The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience and strong working knowledge of electrical systems, plumbing, carpentry, drywall repair, painting, and HVAC maintenance. A commitment to quality workmanship, excellent problem‑solving skills, and a resident‑focused mindset are essential for success in this role.

Working under the direction of the Property Manager, the Maintenance Technician will partner closely with the Maintenance Supervisor to assist with the overall upkeep of the communities. Responsibilities include completing service requests, performing preventative maintenance, preparing apartment homes for new residents, and helping ensure that all common areas and building systems are well‑maintained and operating efficiently.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Customer Service
  • Service requests made by residents should be completed within 24 hours
  • Assist in the distribution of flyers and other material
  • General Maintenance, including but not limited to:
  • Replace filters and clean air conditioning vents as needed
  • Replace breezeway light bulbs as needed
  • Perform HVAC repairs as needed
  • Perform light electrical repairs on items such as appliances, fixtures, switches, outlets, circuits, etc.
  • Perform light plumbing work, such as clearing stoppages, replacing fittings, etc.
  • Replace broken glass, tile, carpet, screens, garbage disposals, fixtures, appliances, blinds, locks.
  • Paint, interior and exterior, when necessary.
  • Perform carpentry work, such as fitting doors, freeing windows, replacing and building shelves, sanding and refinishing floors.
  • Assist in custodial work, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, emptying trash, cleaning windows, etc. in common areas.
  • Assist in grounds work when necessary, including picking up litter and “trashing out” vacancies.
  • Maintain pool chemical levels and cleanliness.
  • Repair concrete, masonry, roof, fencing, when required.
  • Be responsible for refurbishing of apartments prior to resident occupancy (Make Readies).
  • Have knowledge regarding water and gas meter cutoffs, all apartment and fixture cutoffs, and sewer cleanouts, and post map of same.
  • Make keys, change locks and assist in maintaining key control and other work as directed
  • On Call
  • Handle “on call” duties whenever needed.
  • Participate in standby emergency schedule for evening, weekend, and holiday coverage.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor and Property Manager
Requirements
  • Minimum 2 years of full‑time experience in apartment maintenance or a trade that requires basic knowledge of electricity, plumbing, carpentry, painting and HVAC.
  • Own basic set of hand tools.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
  • Available to participate in a rotating on‑call schedule
  • Ability to perform work responsibilities at other locations in the area, as needed.
