Job summary

Century Sun Metal Treating is seeking a Maintenance Technician in Michigan to repair and maintain machinery and production equipment. This full-time role prioritizes safety and proactive maintenance to minimize downtime, with duties including troubleshooting, tool setup, and equipment installation.

You will document maintenance records, read schematics, and operate shop machinery. Forklift/elevated platform certification is preferred; training is offered if needed.

Qualifications

• Proficient problem solving and root cause analysis with proactive approach.
• Able to read and interpret machine schematics, blueprints and manuals.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities to operate in a maintenance team.
• Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize maintenance tasks efficiently.
• Familiar with ERP systems, Microsoft Office and computerized maintenance records.
• Forklift and elevated work platform certifications preferred; training offered.

Responsibilities

• Repairs and maintains machinery and equipment with safety as a priority.

• Troubleshoots mechanical devices; replaces defective parts and performs repairs.

Summary/Objective

Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, and production machines, equipment, and other company assets by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Performs job duties with safety as the #1 priority.
2. Completes projects with minimal guidance showing a proactive attitude to minimizing equipment downtime and lost productivity.
3. Troubleshoots mechanical devices in operation. Dismantles and examines devices to gain access to and remove defective parts. Adjusts, repairs, or replaces defective parts.
4. Sets up and operates shop machinery such as lathe, drill press, grinders, band saws, cutting torch, welders, etc. Working knowledge with hand tools, power tools, pneumatic and hydraulic tools to modify or repair equipment.
5. Installs new or repairs/modifies equipment as needed.
6. Improves reliability and uptime of all equipment. Takes proactive approach to equipment issues with a preventive maintenance mentality.
7. Operates forklift and elevated working platform as needed.
8. Able to research necessary supplies, parts and tools needed to complete work orders.
9. Assists in identifying and maintaining an accurate inventory of parts.
10. Contributes to upkeep and updating of required work documentation including computerized maintenance record keeping, documents, manuals, drawings, etc.
11. Supports the vision, mission, and guiding principles of the organization.
12. Follows applicable Safety, Health, and Environmental rules and guidelines while performing job duties.
13. Maintains departmental housekeeping.
14. Available for emergencies outside of normal working hours and shift.

6. Associate degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or one-year related experience and high school diploma or GED equivalent.
7. Reading Skills-Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, Lock Out / Tagout procedures, computerized maintenance record keeping, work orders, equipment schematics, and blueprints.
8. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
9. Computer Skills-to perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of internet browsers, Microsoft suite and any ERP software provided.
10. Forklift license, Elevated Work Platform, Confined Space certificate, preferred. Training will be offered to candidates not currently trained.
11. Must have mechanical aptitude with basic concepts of mechanical design, hydraulic design, and basic electric circuit troubleshooting skills.
