Job summary

Johnson Outdoors Inc. in Mankato, MN is seeking a maintenance technician to diagnose and repair production equipment and to perform preventative maintenance to keep plant operations running smoothly.

The ideal candidate has an associate/technical degree in maintenance technology and about 2 years of production maintenance experience, with the ability to read schematics and work with pneumatics, electrical, hydraulic systems, and MS Office.

Qualifications

  • Typically requires an associate/technical degree in maintenance technology or related certification.
  • Approximately 2 years of production maintenance experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics and technical drawings.
  • Experience with pneumatics, electrical, hydraulic, and/or air compressor systems.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and basic documentation practices.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair production equipment and perform preventative maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose plant equipment issues using schematics and drawings.
  • Document maintenance activities and actions taken to resolve issues.
  • Provide maintenance support for pneumatic, electrical, hydraulic, and air compressor systems.
  • Identify and implement process, safety, quality and waste-improvement ideas.
  • Perform other duties such as assembly, machining, welding as needed.

Diagnoses and repairs production equipment and performs planned preventative maintenance on scheduled equipment. Assists production by ensuring equipment is running efficiently.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Acts as a technical resource, troubleshoots and diagnoses plant and production equipment issues using schematics and technical drawings.

  • Performs preventative and required maintenance on production and plant equipment. Repairs equipment, systems, conveyors and/or other systems at the facility.

  • Documents maintenance and preventive services performed, and actions taken to fix issues.

  • Works with pneumatics, electrical, hydraulic and/or air compressor systems (varies by business unit).

  • Provides production and physical plant maintenance support.

  • Identifies and implements ideas for process improvements, safety, quality and waste management.

  • May performs other various duties such as assembly, operating equipment, machining and welding.

  • Promotes company safety policies, workmanship standards and operational procedures among team members while displaying strong quality consciousness at all times.

  • May performs other various duties such as assembly, operating equipment, machining and welding.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education: Typically requires an associate/technical degree in a maintenance technology, a related certification, or equivalent.


Experience: Typically requires 2 years of production maintenance experience.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES


  • High mechanical aptitude.

  • Ability to read and interpret schematics.

  • Experience with pneumatics, electrical, hydraulic, and/or air compressor systems (varies by the business unit hiring).

  • Proficient in using the Microsoft Office.

  • Ability to perform diverse tasks while requiring minimal supervision.

  • Ability to attain forklift driving certification (requirement may vary by business unit).
