Mopec is seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Maintenance Employee to support the upkeep of our facility, production equipment, and building systems. This role includes performing preventive maintenance, coordinating with outside service providers, and maintaining a clean, safe, and well-organized work environment. The ideal candidate is hands-on, organized, and comfortable working independently while coordinating with vendors and internal groups to keep production running.
Mopec manufactures stainless-steel medical equipment and uses CNC sheet metal lasers, tube-cutting lasers, CNC mills/lathes, press brakes, panel benders, metal finishing tooling, and welding fabrication cells.
Key Responsibilities:
Preventive Maintenance
- Perform routine preventive maintenance on production machinery and facility equipment according to established schedules.
- Ensure the maintenance is completed/document and the equipment is able to run production.
- Change coolants and other machine fluids as required to keep equipment operating properly.
- Clean machines and equipment regularly to maintain performance and extend service life.
- Change filters on HVAC rooftop units on a scheduled basis to maintain air quality and system efficiency.
- Maintain the pneumatic air supply in the facility and schedule air compressor service intervals.
Equipment & Tooling Maintenance
- Change saw-cutting blades and band saw blades as needed to maintain cutting quality and equipment performance.
- Check CNC tools for visible damage or wear and report/replace as needed.
- Assist with changing laser table slats to keep laser cutting equipment operating properly.
- Dump scrap bins into recycling roll-offs with Hilo.
- Identify parts needed for routine maintenance so that the items can be ordered ahead of time.
- Schedule and coordinate maintenance services with Hilo's (or other designated service vendors) for equipment servicing and repairs.
- Serve as a point of contact for scheduled vendor visits, ensuring access and coordination with production schedules.
- Fix minor facility issues (e.g., small repairs to doors, fixtures, lighting, etc.) as they arise.
- Schedule a qualified technician for larger facility or equipment issues that fall outside the scope of routine maintenance.
- Log and identify scheduled fire system and elevator inspections to ensure compliance with required inspection timelines.
Facility & Equipment Upkeep
- Maintain overall cleanliness and organization of the maintenance area, shop floor, and equipment storage areas.
- Organize and maintain inventories of parts, supplies, tools, and consumables used in maintenance activities.
- Track inventory levels and notify supervisors when supplies need to be reordered.
- Manage the general upkeep of production equipment to minimize downtime and support consistent operations.
Repairs & Equipment Handling
- Identify equipment in need of repair and coordinate transport of equipment to repair facilities or vendors as needed.
- Assist with loading, transporting, and safely handling equipment during repair pickup/drop-off.
- Communicate equipment issues and repair status to supervisors and relevant teams.
- Assist in implementing a CMMS- Computerized Maintenance Management platform that tracks maintenance operations, asset tracking, and work order management to help organizations shift from reactive to proactive maintenance
Qualifications
- Prior experience in facilities maintenance, industrial maintenance, or a related field preferred.
- Basic mechanical knowledge and familiarity with hand tools and shop equipment.
- Ability to follow preventive maintenance schedules and documentation procedures.
- Experience with HVAC filter changes or general HVAC upkeep a plus.
- Familiarity with saw blade changes (saw-cutting and band saw), CNC equipment, or laser cutting is a plus.
- Attention to detail for identifying tool/equipment damage and tracking compliance-related inspections (e.g., fire system, elevator).
- Strong organizational skills, especially related to inventory management.
- Ability to coordinate with outside vendors and report scheduling logistics.
- Good communication skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a production team.
- Ability to lift and move equipment (specify weight limit, e.g., up to 50 lbs) and operate material handling equipment such as a Hilo, pallet jack, or electric lift.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Work is performed in a manufacturing/production facility setting.
- May require exposure to machine coolants, cleaning chemicals, and rooftop/outdoor conditions when servicing HVAC units.
- Requires standing, bending, lifting, and occasional climbing (e.g., ladder access to rooftop units).
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by safety protocols.
- Valid driver's license.
- Hilo experience and being mechanically inclined are a plus.
