Job summary

Riveon Healthcare in Lorain, OH is seeking a Facilities Technician to maintain the interior and exterior of our facilities. The role covers electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, painting, janitorial tasks, and vehicle upkeep under supervision.

You will also support capital construction and repair projects, assist with staff interviews, and help ensure safety and compliance. On-call scheduling and flexible hours are required to meet emergency needs.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required, along with at least two years training or hands-on experience in maintenance, construction, electrical, or plumbing trades.
  • Comfort with performing multiple trades in a single shift and following safety policies.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and janitorial tasks as assigned by supervisor.
  • Move/setup furniture and equipment; assist in capital construction and repair projects.
  • Maintain safe, clean, and orderly facilities and vehicles; conduct routine safety checks.
  • Assist in interviewing/screening staff and oversee duties when the Facilities Manager is off duty.

Description
POSITION PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES

This position maintains the interior and exterior of all facilities in a safe, clean, and orderly condition by performing the following essential functions as assigned by his/her supervisor under indirect supervision.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Electrical: Change and/or replace switches, receptacles, light bulbs, fixtures, ballast, fuses, and other minor electrical devices and fixtures.
  • Plumbing: Unclog drains, toilets, and catch basins, replace and/or repair valves, washers, fixtures and fittings. Replace and/or repair water, drain and sewer lines. Replace toilets, sinks, and other plumbing fixtures. Perform other minor plumbing repairs as needed.
  • HVAC/R: Maintains heating, cooling, ventilating, and refrigeration equipment by performing monthly preventative maintenance and repairs.
  • Carpentry: Repair and/or replace structures, including, but not limited to, porches, sheds, decks, garages, and roofing. Repair tables, chairs, doors, locks, windows, flooring, and other minor carpentry projects.
  • Painting: Perform surface preparation, such as drywall, sanding, spackle, caulking, and plastering. Touch-up, prime and finish coat with necessary paint and materials as needed.
  • Moving and Setup: Move desks, chairs, tables, file cabinets, shelving, boxes, and office equipment as needed. Set up furniture, partitions, etc. as required. Move and transport tools, boxes, and furniture as required.
  • Landscaping: Cut, trim, and edges grass. Trims trees, shrubs, bushes and hedges. Plants flowers, shrubs, trees, bushes, and grass. Pulls weeds and rakes leaves, mulches beds, and fertilizes, if needed.
  • Snow Removal: Removes snow and ice from walks, driveways, and parking lots. Spreads ice melting agent on sidewalks, driveways, and parking lots. Must be able to safely operate snow plows, salt spreaders, and gas powered snow blowers.
  • Vehicles: Maintains vehicle fleet to make sure they are safe, clean, and operable for clients and employees by performing monthly maintenance inspections, minor repairs, cleaning, and taking vehicles for service.
  • "Provides skills and labor on capital construction and repair projects for upgrading and improving facilities by performing all functions described above as well as the following essential functions under direct supervision by his/her supervisor:
  • Electrical: Installation of devices, fixtures, wiring, and piping of an approved electrical system.
  • Plumbing: Installs gas, water, and drain piping and fixtures as required.
  • Carpentry: Assists in the construction of partition walls, door installation windows, decks, ramps, sheds, garages, and similar structures using appropriate materials.
  • Painting: Painting, staining, and wall covering installation as required using appropriate materials.
  • Janitorial: Cleanup of construction debris."
  • Must be able to react to change and stress productively and to handle other related tasks as assigned.
  • Must be able to maintain regular and predictable attendance and punctuality.
  • Must be able to get along with others and work as a team.

  • Helps with safety and vehicle inspections as needed.
  • Janitorial: Cleans up spills, overflows, back-ups and human waste/fluids. Performs general buildings and grounds cleanup, including garbage, debris, and cigarette butts. Collects recycled materials. Cleans carpets, vacuums, and mops. Performs other general cleaning as needed, included window cleaning.
  • Attends staff meetings and participates in safety education and training programs. Maintains cleaning supplies, materials, and equipment, storing/securing them in designated storage space. Requests purchases of supplies and materials as needed. Request authorizations for service and/or repair of the power operated equipment through the supervisor.
  • Addresses insect infestation, which includes bed bugs. May require inspecting for insects, applying insecticide and clean-up
  • Participate in interviewing / screening candidates and vendors.
  • Oversee the duties of other Facilities Staff when Facilities Manager not on duty
Requirements
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
  • In order to perform the essential functions of this job, after an orientation period, the employee must possess the following: a working knowledge of Riveon Mental Health and Recovery Policy and Procedures, including sensitivity and adherence to clients’ rights, confidentiality, and health and safety issues;
  • Must be cable of effectively working alone without supervisor present; must recognize and be proactive with maintenance issues;
  • Must work efficiently, professionally, and within Center policies and procedures.
  • Must exhibit sensitivity to different cultures.
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of the job.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts, in high, precarious places, and in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and risk of electrical shock.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Must be able to understand and safely operate all tools and equipment needed to perform essential job functions.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move 80 pounds frequently.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR POSITION
  • High School diploma or equivalent required, along with at least two years training or hands-on experience in maintenance, construction, electrical, or plumbing trades.
  • Must be able to understand and safely operate all hand and power tools needed to perform all functions in the position guide.
  • Must be capable of working independently.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours due to snow removal, emergency situations, and/or special projects.
  • Will be required to be on call on a 24-hour per day, Monday through Sunday rotating basis.
  • The necessity for travel in this job requires that the employee possess a valid Ohio driver’s license with less than 6 points in a 36-month period and have proof of adequate personal automobile insurance.
  • Must be able to comprehend instructions, both oral and written, and carry out instructions.
  • Favorable references and/or evaluations are required.
