Job summary

Spherion Staffing, LLC is seeking a Maintenance Technician (B Mechanic) to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair equipment across the facility and grounds. You will work with automated packaging machinery, pumps, hydraulic and pneumatic systems in a fast-paced, safety-conscious setting.

Qualified candidates bring 3+ years of maintenance experience in manufacturing, familiarity with GMP, and ability to read schematics and perform welding.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of related maintenance experience in a manufacturing facility.
• Experience in a food production or packaging environment is preferred.
• Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and related repair work.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and work with low/high-voltage circuits.
• Proven welding (gas/arc) and pump rebuilding capabilities.
• Strong problem-solving skills in variable conditions.
• Ability to pass a mechanical test and perform basic math operations.

Responsibilities

• Identify and resolve equipment and system issues across plant and grounds.
• Operate, troubleshoot, and repair automated packaging machinery, pumps, and fluid systems.
• Read electrical schematics and safely work with low/high-voltage circuits.
• Diagnose motor and control issues.

Pay: Starts at $30.00 per hour, plus a $1.00 shift differential (Paid weekly).

Responsibilities

• Actively identify and resolve component and system issues throughout the plant and grounds.
• Operate, troubleshoot, and repair automated packaging machinery, pumps, pneumatic systems, and hydraulic systems.
• Read electrical schematics and safely work with both low and high-voltage circuits.
• Diagnose minor electric motor, motor control, and device control problems.
• Perform gas/arc welding, soldering, basic plumbing, and carpentry.
• Identify and order necessary parts and materials from manufacturer manuals and prints.
• Maintain strict compliance with food safety, facility cleanliness, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) policies.
• Inspect work areas continuously to ensure products remain free from contamination and report suspicious activities.
• Communicate instructions effectively, both orally and in writing.

Working hours: 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM

Skills

• 3+ years of related mechanical and electrical maintenance experience in a manufacturing facility.
• Prior experience within a food production or packaging environment.
• Intermediate-to-advanced knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems application and repair.
• Strong problem-solving ability in situations with limited standardization.
• Familiarity with facility security protocols and food manufacturing GMP guidelines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• 2 to 3+ years of experience in a industrial maintenance role.
• Experience with automated packaging machines, conveyors, gear systems, sensors, and electrical systems.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and safely handle low and high-voltage circuits.
• Proven ability in gas/arc welding, soldering, and rebuilding pumps.
• Ability to score 40% or better on the Standard Timing Model mechanical test.
• Strong basic mathematical skills (fractions, decimals, ratios, percentages).
• Ability to lift/move up to 10 pounds frequently and occasionally lift/move over 100 pounds.
• High level of mental alertness, safety commitment, and ability to react quickly to emergency situations/alarms.
