Job summary

Zekelman Industries is seeking a maintenance technician to join our Kentucky-based team. You will perform preventive maintenance on engines, motors, conveyors, and production machines, troubleshoot PLCs and electrical systems, and maintain parts inventories.

The role requires standing 10–12 hours and ability to lift up to 50 lbs. The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, technical training, and relevant welding or manufacturing experience.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; trade tech training preferred.
  • Certification for in-house Crane, Fork Truck operation, and other lift/mobile equipment is required.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Ability to stand 10–12 hours and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to follow instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Attends educational workshops and reviews technical publications to maintain knowledge.
  • Communicates with supervisors to ensure smooth operations and build positive relationships.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Regular, full-time, on-site attendance as per shift.

What You’ll Do

  • Performs preventive maintenance checks on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines.

  • Applies troubleshooting techniques to plant electrical systems, including Programmable Logic Controls (PLC), motors, drives, and relays.

  • Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges.

  • Fabricates repair parts using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.

  • Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories, ensuring adequate stock and anticipating future needs.

  • Attends educational workshops, reviews technical publications, and maintains technical knowledge.

  • Communicates with supervisors to ensure smooth operations and build positive working relationships.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Requires regular, full-time, predictable onsite attendance per scheduled shift.

Who You Are

  • High School or GED; Technical or Trade School in a related field preferred.

  • Certification for in-house Crane, Fork Truck operation, and other lift/mobile equipment required.

  • Some welding experience and experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.

  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.

  • Ability to stand for 10-12 hours and lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

  • Regularly exposed to industrial environment conditions, including mechanical parts and equipment.
