Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 3+ years in industrial maintenance.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge and PLC understanding.
  • Experience with AC/DC electrical systems preferred.
  • Knowledge of electrical schematics and testing equipment.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, repair, and replace industrial processing and packaging equipment.
  • Operate machinery using saws, drills, welders, lathes, and metalworking tools.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems in plant equipment.
  • Perform uptime and downtime preventative maintenance.
  • Assist in training new employees.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives.

Job description

Maintenance Technician – Kansas City, MO

As a part of our manufacturing group, you will be responsible for preventative and reactive maintenance of processing and packaging equipment and providing technical support to improve and optimize within the manufacturing operations and processes.

Shift hours
  • 8‑hour shifts
    • 1st shift: 7 am to 3 pm
    • 2nd shift: 3 pm to 11 pm
    • 3rd shift: 11 pm to 7 am
  • Training occurs on 1st shift and then shift rotation after completion of training (rotation will be explained in the interview)
  • Ability and willingness to work overtime, any shift, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays. Plant operation is 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Pay
  • $25.45 per hour
    • Up to $33.78 per hour depending on skillset and experience
    • Internal Advancement Pay for skill increases up to $35.83 per hour
  • Shift differential
    • Additional $0.55 per hour for hours worked on 2nd shift and 3rd shift

    • Installing, maintaining, repairing, and replacing industrial processing and packaging machinery, work tools and equipment
    • Using machinery/equipment specifically related to the position, including saws/drills, welders, lathes, bending/cutting machines, basic mechanical tools, ultrasonic/vibration analysis equipment, piping, rigging, lifting, and sheet metal
    • Troubleshooting and repairing mechanical problems of all plant equipment (e.g., mechanical drive systems, hydraulic and pneumatic systems)
    • Troubleshooting and repairing electrical problems of plant and packaging/processing equipment such as wiring, circuits, fuses, switches, electrical installations, motors and AC/DC motor drivers and circuit boards
    • Performing both uptime and downtime preventative maintenance
    • Participate in continuous‑improvement initiatives to increase platform performance
    • Assist in training new employees
What you have to offer
  • Minimum of a high school diploma or GED
  • Minimum 3 years of industrial maintenance or related industry experience
  • Basic mechanical knowledge and understanding of PLC operation, electrical motors, gearboxes and components along with systems troubleshooting, including use of a multimeter and specialized tools
  • Experience in repairing and troubleshooting AC/DC electrical systems, reading schematics and using electrical testing equipment strongly preferred
  • Basic shop equipment (mill, lathe, grinder, presses, etc.) preferred
  • Experience in a manufacturing/production environment preferred
  • Ability to work independently and as a team with flexibility to quickly shift work priorities
Physical requirements
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Must be able to perform physical tasks for extended periods of time, including standing, walking, climbing, bending, pushing, pulling and twisting over surfaces
  • Ability to climb and/or work at heights while utilizing stairs, ladders, personnel lifts, or platforms
  • Ability to wear protective clothing and equipment such as safety shoes, face masks, safety glasses, hearing protection, a hard hat, a hair/beard net and gloves when required
  • Willing and able to adhere to all grooming requirements necessary for a food manufacturing environment
  • Ability to work in hot, cold, noisy, dusty, wet environmental working conditions
  • Willing to work around industrial high‑speed moving machinery
  • Ability to work with allergens that might be present in a food environment
