Job summary

POAH Communities is seeking a Maintenance Technician to lead hands-on upkeep at Cromwell Court, a 124-unit affordable garden-style community in Hyannis. You will perform preventive maintenance, repairs, and safety-related tasks to preserve the property and resident satisfaction.

You will work with a team to ensure make-ready units are prepared promptly, follow EPA/OSHA regulations, and maintain safe working conditions in all weather. Strong communication and attendance flexibility are key.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of experience in apartment maintenance.
• High School diploma or GED is required; HVAC certification is preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and automobile insurance may be required.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and on-call.
• Knowledge of safe use of hand tools, power tools, and measuring devices.

Responsibilities

• Ensure a safe, secure and comfortable living environment for residents and staff.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance on equipment.
• Diagnose and repair routine maintenance tasks.
• Coordinate and inspect make-ready repairs and services.
• Keep grounds neat and assist with basic landscaping tasks.

About The Role

POAH Communities is seeking a highly qualified individual to serve as Maintenance Technician. This individual will be a bright and dynamic leader with hands-on experience. Cromwell Court is a 124-unit affordable garden apartment complex in Hyannis consisting of 11 two-and-half story buildings built between 1972 and 1974. The property is located near Main Street in Hyannis with easy access to commercial areas, shopping, employment centers and transportation and includes two playgrounds, a basketball court and a community building with community room and management offices. Under the previous ownership structure, the affordability provisions were set to expire in 2016. POAH’s acquisition of the property in 2011 insured that affordability at the property will be preserved in perpetuity.

About Your Impact

• Insuring a safe, secure and comfortable living environment for residents, visitors and staff.
• Being knowledgeable of pertinent laws and EPA and OSHA regulations.
• Being aware of the condition of apartment property throughout the community and immediately initiate action to correct unsafe conditions.
• Scheduling and performing routine preventative maintenance on all appropriate equipment.
• Performing work area clean-up and safety related duties.
• Diagnosing and perform minor and routine maintenance/repairs.
• Insuring all make-ready repairs and services are completed.
• Inspecting and helping coordinate all needed make-ready repairs and services.
• Assisting in keeping grounds neat and clean. Rake, sweep, shovel as necessary.

About You

• Must have at least 1 year experience in apartment maintenance.
• High School diploma or GED required. HVAC certification preferred.
• Must have a valid Driver’s License and automobile insurance coverage as use of personal vehicle may be required.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule with weekends and on-call basis as necessary.
• Must be knowledgeable and skilled in the safe use and maintenance of hand tools, power tools, user-moved aids, mechanical equipment, measuring devices.
• Must be able to perform the following duties 66-100% of the time: be on feet, bend/stoop/squat/kneel, climb stairs, push/pull, reach above shoulder, climb ladders, grasp/grip/turn, finger dexterity, lift/carry up to 75lbs, be able to read and understand maintenance forms and warning labels.
• Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
