Job summary

Kennametal Inc. in Gurley, AL is seeking a Multi-Craft Maintenance Technician to troubleshoot, maintain and repair production and facilities equipment.

This 6a-2p shift role requires hands-on work across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems to keep operations running efficiently. You will rebuild gears and drives, perform plumbing and fabrication, read schematics and follow SOPs to ensure safety and reliability in a non climate-controlled environment with PPE and safety

Qualifications

• Associate degree or technical diploma in mechanical maintenance or equivalent.
• Ability to read electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic schematics.
• Experience in a production/maintenance environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, maintain and repair production and facilities equipment.
• Perform maintenance and electrical duties in all departments to support production.
• Rebuild gears, drives and pneumatic cylinders; perform plumbing and fabrication work.
• Dismantle machines to access problem areas and replace worn parts.
• Install and maintain various machines; troubleshoot motors and electrical components.
• Follow safety procedures and SOPs; use PPE and adhere to LOTO guidelines.

Multi-Craft Maintenance Technician

Location - Gurley, AL

Shift - 6a-2p

Job Summary and Mission

Troubleshoot, Maintain and Repair production and facilities equipment.

Key Job Responsibilities

Perform maintenance and electrical duties in all departments to support production. Rebuild gears, drives and pneumatic cylinders. Perform plumbing, general machine shop and fabrication work. Dismantle machines to gain access to problem areas. Remove and replace worn or defective parts. Perform installation and periodic maintenance on a wide variety of machines and equipment. Troubleshoot motors, motor controls, phase angle SCR units, transformers, thermocouples, and lighting; replace electrical components, switches, fixtures and
circuit breakers.

Key Job Accountabilities

Commitment to working safely and understand all safety procedures. Deviations in routine are handled according to operating procedures and/or work instructions. Operator responsible for following process documents, assuring product is processed according to proper routings, specifications and that the quantity and style are correct. Work to meet daily departmental production goals. Must be reliable and dependable. Communicate safety, quality, product issues with supervisor, team members and across shifts. Follow proper LOTO and Fall Protection guidelines.

Education and Experience

Associate Degree or Technical Diploma in Mechanical Maintenance, equivalent Military Education, or completion of a formal Apprenticeship Program required. Must have good troubleshooting and calibration skills, and have ability to read and understand electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic schematics and diagrams.

Environment not climate-controlled, indoor and outdoor work is required. Safety glasses with side-shields required. Safety Shoes are required. Gloves, cut resistant gloves when necessary. Dust exposure PPE as reqiured.

Physical Demands

Approximately 12 hours standing with intermittent breaks per shift. Intermittent walking, reaching, sitting and bending. Lifting no more than thirty-three (33) pounds. Moderate dust and hot surfaces.

Problem Solving

Utilize MVP system for work orders. Complete work orders safely and in a timely fashion. Escalate issues to Management and/or Engineering as appropriate.
